I really like your unknown rose too @micmarg, the big ruffley two-tone, it looks great and different too. You have a very interesting garden, it looks healthy and lush.
No worries about the ajuga @edhelka, it's just one of those plants that everyone else finds easy but doesn't seem to like me or my garden or both. I've got plenty of little plants that I've made sat around in pots and I can also split some primulas to replace them.
Editing to add an early morning photo of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. In the hope that it does end up being a tall 5/6' but slender rose I've found a perfect spot for it. I hope it moves ok, I'll do it over winter to be on the safe side. You can see a ragged old stem of Rhapsody in Blue behind, I planted it too close.
@micmarg, I must say I instantly thought ‘Lucky’ for your GJ imposter having remembered poppyfield’s photos way back. I also like your unknown ruffled pink, some investigation needed there too!
Little toughie Diamond Eyes:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Nollie I hope you love the fragrance of Heid Klum as much as I do. This brand new plant already packing a punch, I immediately got a strong parma violet hit from it. Just had a look round for rain damage, not bad at all after a heavy downpour and lengthy showers. WOH and Charles Darwin waftingDiamond Eyes JC with Sandringham behind, bad pic, good view of wheelbarrow ramp though. Sandringham gave off a good scent but I can't remember what of, I've tried too many today. I'm glad Blush Noisette held off this flush I'm worried now about the rain on it too @peteS. Should I be concerned about the pale green leaves? It is temporarily in a pot which has a handful of Miracle Gro slow release rose granules in.
@Tack ...the foliage is normal for Blush Noisette,.. light coloured... ..it holds up quite well in the rain.. it produces so many buds in huge clusters, that even in dry weather, a few will turn yellow, a few will not open, but most do.. so you hardly notice... the worst aspect is removing the spent blooms as they hang around too long and don't drop.. so some manual removal is necessary if it becomes bothersome.. simply running ones fingers over the clusters gets rid of most.. ..I also had heavy rain yesterday, thunderstorms etc.. here's a cluster after the rain today..
Thank you for that reassurance @Marlorena. I really like this pretty rose, I'll miss having it in a pot on the patio, it wafts a really lovely fragrance.
I've contacted David Austin as my Lady Emma Hamilton is really not doing well. She's down to two canes now from 6 as the others all ended up with die back.
I don’t know if any of you ever do this - it may just be because I’ve got a small garden - creating gardening tasks out of thin air.
This afternoon I was in the garden and I was on top of the weeding really (all my weeds seem to be rudbeckia so I’m quite happy to leave those) deadheading all done, tying in of various plants done, nothing to plant, watering not necessary. So I was looking around for jobs to do, started looking at perennials and wondering if I could get away with dividing them now. But completely the wrong time for that so stopped myself from hacking anything up!
Then I spotted the chives! See I’d sowed some last year around the edges of, what was at the time, our veg bed. But they didn’t seem to germinate. But they did come up this year. They were all happy enough I think but I decided to lift them all, pot them individually and bring them in so I could watch them grow on before planting out again later.
Completely unnecessary really. But I just had itchy green fingers.
It’s why I lifted that poor Knautia again yesterday! Could/should have just left it and separated it when it was done flowering, but I wanted a job!
I potted a cut cane from The Generous Gardener. I don’t even want another one!! 😂
This time could have been better spent at the allotment but I was worn out from heavy work there this morning so my poor unsuspecting garden got my attention instead.

Here's Vanessa Bell flowering again.
Are moving the pilgrim ones somewhere else or binning?
