Getting withdrawal symptoms from not being in the garden or taking any photos!
Will try to tomorrow if I get chance. I've been busy digging a new pond at the back of our allotment plot. In-between sessions doing that the weather has been dreadful.
Your Ghislaine looks great Marlorena. Mine hasn't repeated much, had a large first flush then nothing for a while. But there are new buds on it now.
Lovely roses there @rock_hen, nice to see other people's Teasing Georgia. I like your Bridge of Sighs, not seen that before. My Boscobel is just starting a flush . Orange and red together meetsmy approval @micmarg , Royal William ,crocosmias Lucifer and Emily MacKenzie, Rudbeckia Little Henry, Bathsheba is still a baby on the left
Your Ghislaine dF is looking great @Marlorena, my first flower of the next flush opened today Strawberry Hill, WollertonOH and Rhapsody in Blue growing well EbbTide just gorgeous and wafting
@tack I didn't realise you had Easy Does It. I have that on order from TcL. Have you been pleased with yours. Nice to see how many gorgeous blooms your Ebb Tide has, it looks stunning.
@rock_hen lovely photos. Do you get much scent from Twilight Zone?
Nothing much happening in the garden at the moment and spent most of the day picking acorns off the lawn. The downside to having a huge oak tree overhanging our garden.
@poppyfield64 Lovely roses, I am really resisting getting Desdemona but it is hard. I have only had Easy Does It for 12 days so I have no idea how it will do for me. What I can say is that there is stronger pleasant rosy fragrance than I expected and the blooms have lasted ages, even with the wind, sun and 1 day of rain we have had in that time. Below is the first bloom opening, taken on the 18th, the flower on the left in the pic below that is the same bloom , photo just taken. @Nollie Just FYI The photo of Odyssey below, which I just took, still has the same top 2 blooms that I photographed on the 20th (bottom pic), middle photo is 22nd. so yes, they do last a lot longer than Astronomia and it has been windy.
@poppyfield64 Just went out and sniffed twilight zone and not really a scent at all Pure Poetry on the other hand has such a strong, beautiful rose scent as does the Poet's wife but that is much more lemony scent
Thank you @Tack. Lovely photos of EDI and so pleased to hear how it's doing. It was the colour and the lovely ruffled blooms that attracted me to it and it looks like it's holding it's blooms up nicely too.
@rock_hen thank you for having a sniff for me. I've been on the fence between Twilight Zone and Ebb Tide for a while now but it seems Ebb Tide may be more fragrant. Pure Poetry looks really good too so will have to have a closer look at that one.
I’m really enjoying everyone’s roses, that Ebb Tide is looking especially lovely, Rock Hen. Tack I’m pleased Odyssey is holding onto it’s blooms for you.
I’ve nothing new really to post, just time-wasting as it’s too hot to do anything else, but here’s an illustration of how my double blooms respond to temps in the mid 30s by turning into semi-doubles and flashing their pollen for insects..
Munstead Wood has really shed it’s layers: Darcy Bussell - lower petal count than normal but not as extreme as MW: Lady Emma Hamilton looking disrobed and dishevelled:
Julia Child, is currently looking more double than the doubles! Always a popular landing pad for butterflies too:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Tack. I meant to add that I'm very pleased with my Desdemona. I only got her on 30th June and she has grown loads and has a mass of buds. Plus an amazing fragrance.
The day I got her. Today less than 2 months later.
