Thought I'd stumbled onto the Hydrangea Season thread by mistake!
Funnily enough I've been thinking about hydrangeas. Must be since I saw the bit on Gardeners world the other week. Can't say I've ever been particularly taken with them. But there were some types shown on that, that looked nice.
Thank you. It was deep blue when we moved in, I am sure the previous owner used a blueing agent. Most mopheads around are this colour (which I love). Lacecaps are mixed, blue and pink. There are two huge beautiful ones in our street. Light blue hydrangeas can be also seen, I am not sure if the soil is acidic enough for them or if they have help.
I have some photos of roses too but will only get to post them later.
..yes lovely colour on that hydrangea @edhelka ... I wouldn't see that colour locally except perhaps on The Queen's Sandringham Estate, as they're on acid sand just north of me...
@Marlorena...hi Marlorena, could you please tell me where I can buy the stunning Marie Nabonnand as it's not proved an easy one to track down. Is it suitable for a trellis or is it too big. Many thanks.
@peteS ..I'm sorry it's no longer offered in this country... Peter Beales used to have it, but not for some years now.. ..I'd say it's way too large for the average trellis anyway, and would be difficult to contain as such...
Pots... 'Empereur Charles IV.' blooming, 'Silas Marner' and 'Gabriel Oak' between flushes, Silas growing a nice basal.
'The Generous Gardener'
'The Albrighton Rambler'
'Lavender Dream'
'Eye of the Storm' looking very red today.
It's almost too double for a hulthemia but I think it deserves its name. Unfurling storm with the eye inside which only become visible when the bloom fully opens. Leafy, thorny and healthy.
That's a sweet photo of Scarborough Fair in the sunlight with the verbena behind @edhelka
I've only got a few sparse flowerers at the moment; the inclement weather that just zoomed over put paid to any dregs hanging on so happy to see all the bright and cheerful roses on here.

Vanessa Bell stem that was bent over by the wind:
Wow that hydrangea is a stunner, the color is amazing.
