Regarding the Covid enquiry. I certainly find the evidence given by the scientist to be far more compelling than that given by Ministers and civil servants. No surprise there though.
That said, the scientists simply gave Ministers their opinions on various subjects and, as the scientists said, it was then up to Ministers to decide how to act. The scientists have acknowledged that they didn't always agree on the best course of action. The reality is that whether it was vocalised or not there was going to be an 'acceptable level of deaths'. Whatever action was taken would not and could not have prevented all fatalities.
I’ve seen some of the Covid , I thought the Scientists reports where very interesting and made sense I was appalled by the Civil Servants Politicians are what they are , hear today gone tomorrow
As a lot of you folks are aware, I dip into "another" forum. On their Covid thread, someone put, Covid isn't worse, people complain about it more "!!! I suppose you could argue with that, that since the vaccines not so many people are drying. Oh, AnnaB, suggested that if we find something that can help,we might share information. Regarding my own circumstances, you know I ate sensibly, excercised regularly, HOWEVER, since March 2022, I had various"intimate "problems which meant I couldn't do my usual regime, some days I couldn't even walk. Therefore,my fitness level would have been considerably less than usual.
@Fire, I don't see how the article you mention has any bearing on voluntary euthanasia. The person mentioned refused treatment, possibly irrationally, but certainly within their rights, it is nothing to do with euthanasia. Several people on this forum have had horrible experiences of loved ones being kept alive, when they had no prospect of survival. I had to fight exceptionally hard, to prevent my dying mother from having pointless surgery, which would only have prolonged her death.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I believe that many drs. in the U.K. have utterly cruel and unjustified views on voluntary euthanasia. Many terminally ill patients die miserably cruel deaths, because drs. think they have the right to prolong that death.
I've disagreed with you a lot on this thread but I couldn't agree more with you this time, I've seen some terrible things happen to friends who just wanted to give up on life.

It wasn't the article, but the comments below the line. I think it got posted on an alternative therapy site early on. A great many people were saying they would not have any treatment for cancer and would prefer to die. There is a lot of misinformation about treatments, which might be pills or a small surgery. There is so much fear about there about hospital treatments. I am a supporter of the right to die but when you have so many people living under such delusion it gets very tricky.
I know various countries like Australia have been working with easier legislation. In 2017 one quarter of all deaths in the Netherlands were induced.
It's truly alarming to see people btl saying that they wouldn't have cancer treatment because it's too expensive where they live and they would leave behind debt. Or that they wouldn't have treatment because they trust the body to heal itself. Increasing amounts of people say that they have such mental health struggles that it's not worth having other acute treatments.
I think there is a building cohort - driven by social media. There is a strong 'anti-chemo' posse out there, which I encountered when I had chemo ten years ago (when I was in my 30s). But anti-treatment, (anti-vax) and "I don't want to be old" movements seems to have gone to a whole new level.
It's a crazy world we live in where somebody would be prosecuted for keeping a pet alive if it was in pain, but prosecuted for ending the suffering of a person.
The cynic in me says that the pragmatists in the government who were happy to see expensive people die of Covid will be happy enough to legalise voluntary euthanasia. I hope so.
