  • We have been reporting into the Zoe app since it began, as have many others. They have just announced that they are no longer able to provide daily updates. They give several reasons,  the ammont of testing has dropped right down,  the number of people reporting symptoms,  and tests has collapsed in some areas. I  can't remember all the other reasons but basically they are saying the figures are no longer representative, &  that it has become too inaccurate to extrapolate or interpret the data to represent the national picture as they used to do.  It shows how much this has dropped in the wider public consciousness.

I think I mentioned before the R4 programme More or Less,  where they often look at the truth behind data that gets quoted into the public domain.  I am no statistical expert but it often  emphasises how easy it is to make a false alarm with inaccurate data.

The Zoe app continues to look at other more general health data.

The information provided during Covid about the number of deaths showed how misleading stats can be.  At one stage any death within 28 days of a positive Covid test was listed as a Covid death.  The person may have been hit by the proverbial bus, but was still a Covid death according to the stats.
I'm not actually criticising anybody for the way stats were compiled at that time as they had to use something as a baseline, simply pointing out how inaccurate stats can be.

The figures published by the DoH are accurate, they removed any cases where COVID was just coincidental, and despite the conspiracy theories and the Daily Mail, there were not nearly as many of those as might be imagined.

Now so few tests are done, and even fewer reported, it is a nightmare. The only thing we can say for sure is that cases are rapidly rising.

The Zoe project has pretty much stopped collecting data as there isn't enough of it to be representative or useful.

    That's what I was saying.

anecdotally though, over the summer I didn't know anyone with Covid. Now I know dozens who either have it or have recently had it. There obviously is a wave of it happening at the moment, regardless of how documented or not that is

OH has booked himself in for a covid vaccine tomorrow, and got a flu one at work. His dad's cancer team told him that anyone coming to visit, help out, take him to appointments etc should have a covid vaccination so OH went on the NHS website, ticked the appropriate box and got booked in :)

We had our flu jabs last Saturday, no side effects at all. Covid jab a month ago, no problems then either. Maybe we are just lucky, or maybe some of the bad reactions reported  were when both given at the same time?

@Ergates I think adverse reaction or otherwise is simply down to the individual.  My wife and I have never had anything more than a sore arm and have had the flu and Covid jabs at the same time twice now.  Our niece had both and said she felt awful for about 24 hours.

Sorry, I probably didn’t explain it well. Roughly the same number of people die of flu, as die of COVID, so that is twice as many dying as when there was no COVID.
But, average lifespan is rising, as are the number of immigrants. We need more deaths in order to avoid the need to build the number of homes Labour are saying they will build if they are elected.
The country cannot cope with such a building programme, nor can it cope with the increase in demand for water and energy.
    BRITAIN NEEDS MORE DEATHS!!
    Ironic, isn't it?!
