Seems like there is no vaccine option other than Pfizer. My OH had a bad reaction to it when she got it for her last booster so when we turned up for our appointments today she had to decline as it was the only vaccine being offered.

There are other vaccines available, but they might not be available in your area.

    We’ve both had Moderna Spikevax.

She thought they were also going to be offering Moderna but they said today at the vax centre that the Govt had only bought Pfizer and there was no AZ available any more. It isn't obvious how we will be able to access any alternative apart from trying to contact individual pharmacies.

About the only thing you can do,  someone, somewhere must have it.

We've had ours this afternoon, Pfizer again. The leaflet they gave us says Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.1. Not sure what exactly that means - maybe it doesn't protect so much against the newer variants, but to me any vaccination is better than none.

  • OH looked up the Comirnaty name (after he had that for his jab) - apparently it's a mash up of "community" "immunity" "mrna" and "covid". Not exactly catchy though! It is a bivalent vaccine so also covers the omicron variant.

I had the Moderna Spikevax one, also the bivalent version.

We had the Moderna Spikevax one so it can't be true that the Government only bought Pfizer.

Maybe they're running out of spikevax  and using pfizer instead or maybe it's cheaper
