I should add that the waiting room is small and always crowded even though people have their masks on. I feel less stressed now that I have made a decision!
Eminently sensible @floralies. Stay safe and well. x It's a bit annoying for you that the gap is being reduced from 6 months to 3. If this had happened a couple of months ago, you would have been able to have your booster earlier, although I appreciate it's all different where you are, and I'm surprised you haven't already had yours. I'm a good bit younger than you, and I've just had mine. My daughters fall into the category of 18 to 30 yr olds who can now have it within the 3 month period, so they can theoretically get it within the next week or two. Unfortunately, only the younger one will, as the older one tested positive when they were due to get the 2nd jag, so she only had it last month instead of mid September.

Just had a call from son who is managing a testing centre. He says they’d normally test 60 in a morning …. Today it has been nearly 600! These are people who’ve had positive lateral flow tests or symptoms.
He says early symptoms seem to be migraine and a really snotty nose, before the fever and other symptoms appear.
Take care out there folks!

When I booked my jab at the doctors @Fairygirl it was still the 6 month rule, if only we'ed known about the Omicron variant then. We have kept pretty much to ourselves through all this so thought nothing of waiting but of course it has all changed now, and in any case we have to get our boosters to update our vaccine passports.
I cancelled my appointment for a test for tinnitus at a hospital last month as my father recently died of covid.i couldn't face going .so I have it now in February.i don't mind waiting.its not that bad.but I do mind waiting over 6 weeks for a referral to a breast clinic after finding something.ive paid tax and national insurance all my life and now when I need it it's not there for me.im sick of clapping for the nhs.its such a mess.more money flinging at it but none of it seems to stick.
Absolutely right @the tidy gardener. I feel the same, son is supposed to have 6 monthly treatment to keep him alive, he’s just been, 6 months late, they waited until he could hardly walk from fatigue and achy rheumatoid joints, then they do the treatment. i didn’t know he’d waited that long or I would have paid for it, he won’t tell me until the last minute.
Won’t matter how much money they fling at it, it will never stick now. It was fit for purpose when it first started, not now though.

Different systems indeed @floralies. We don't get any of ours via the doctor, and daughter couldn't get her missed one there [ or any help with it either ] although I expect some areas do - more remote ones especially. We get a letter with an appointment, and most are done at a centre - usually a local facility of some kind. Ours is at the main community hall where the council headquarters are, and it also houses the local swimming pool, theatre , and is adjacent to a high school. Good parking etc, so it's ideal for the area. Not everyone is so fortunate.

Our big centres have opened up again now @Fairygirl and are doing walk-in as well. My GP is doing them as well and I booked when I was last there for an appointment.
Can anyone tell me how the rate of infection is measured? The Kent variant was said to be highly infections; the Delta variant even more infectious and now Omicron is even more infectious than that. Could it be that I could have been in a small room with someone with the Kent variant and not have caught Covid yet have possibly caught it if that person had the Delta variant and would most definitely catch it if the person in the room has the Omicron variant?

I have postponed a dental checkup due this month in order to avoid going into the crowded city centre etc.
