I don't personally know anyone fully vaccinated who has died. I do know 3 unvaccinated people who have died leaving 4 children without a parent. Firstborn and her OH caught covid before their age group were offered the jab. She ended up with pneumonia and her OH ended up in hospital with lung damage. Secondborn had Covid when she was fully vaccinated and her symptoms were like a heavy cold even though she is asthmatic. Just my personal experience and observations.
Nobody has a right to tell someone else what they can or can't do with their body, its wrong forcing people into take a vaccine they don't want ( illegal under international law ) and also wrong stopping / dissuading someone with false info who want the vaccine , everyone has his or her own choice on a medical procedure whether you like it or not.
From what I've seen over the months about delta is the viral loads are similar in double vaccinated and unvaccinated, but vaccinated clear the virus faster which makes them less contagious over a period of time, if you're got symptoms you should be isolating anyway . Just looking how fast omicron spreads it seems to matter diddly swat whether you're triple vaxxed or not. That why in my opinion the covid passport doesn't work it hardy means anything, you've been vaccinated so what you can still spread or catch from anybody near by in a restaurant or where ever , the covid passport gives a false sense of security .
Obesity (for example) is the elephant in the room that nobody really wants to talk about because to do so will raise awkward questions and challenge peoples absolute right to make choices in a left wing democracy, eg absolutely nothing can interfere with my right be be obese, if I so choose, together with the lack of corresponding accountability for that choice. The insinuation is that if I am obese it is ok to cost the healthcare system tens of billions in treating my various issues, it's taxpayers money, but hey that's ok because it is my right to be obese but in a strange turn being unvaccinated will be tut-tutted at.
@thrxvs . I'm pretty sure no-one chooses to be obese. The fast food/convenient food/processed food industry pays big bucks to prevent regulation from governments and with its huge marketing spend actively pushes people into making poor food choices. How many ads for Just Eat and Deliveroo have you seen on tv today? More than for shopping for fresh fruit and veg and cooking from scratch. Couple that with an ever decreasing number of people being taught how to cook, families living in accommodation with no proper cooking facilities, people working long hours to pay for their families leaving them with no time to cook for hungry kids and not wanting to waste money risking buying food the kids might not eat, fresh fruit, meat and vegetables being more expensive than a KFC bucket of chicken, and you have the perfect conditions for creating an obesity problem - let alone other health problems related to continually eating foods without proper nutrition. Yes, lentils are cheap, yes you can cook a stew that will feed a family for two days with cheaper cuts of meat but where is that being taught? It's just not. Fast food is all around us, part of the culture and it pays big bucks to be there.
@Perki vaccines have hugely reduced hospitalisations and deaths. People who have been vaccinated can still get Covid, but have far milder symptoms and there is less and milder long covid incidents afterwards. Having healthier people keep the country functional. Schools can stay open. The NHS does not crash. People stay well into the long term.
Omicron might be a mild variant, but there's nothing to say that there won't be other variants coming along. To me it seems highly likely. We don't know they won't be far more fatal or a very different kettle of fish. The world has not faced this pandemic scenario before.
Playing 'catch up' after a disease emerges means a health service and a country crashes and then scrabbles to put measures in place. Govts and societies need to instead be ahead of the curve. They need to be well prepared and acting on the side of caution. The govt and health institutions are there to put measures in place to stop a crash and burn scenario - to ensure smooth running and healthy populations. We are in the middle of a pandemic. By some estimates 20 million people have died and are still dying. We know other pandemics are on the cards. We need to use all the tools we have to be a robust and healthy system.

I recommend taking some time out to imagine you are in the place of administrators - faced with thousands of deaths, hospitals being overwhelmed, medical staff getting ill, food supplies breaking down, children getting sick - how would you go about the organising? Where would you start? How would you fund it?
The questions are not going away. Our reliance on vaccines is not going away. How do we all pull together?
I do not condone the behaviour of anti vaxxers but I understand it. This is what happens when you discriminate against people because of their beliefs. This government has lied constantly to all of us and is it any wonder that they are not trusted?
The Royal Institution lectures were very good, well worth watching. OH, who is pretty clueless on medical matters and terminology, says he understands a lot more now than he did before, and very much enjoyed them.
