I totally agree it's political. Certainly the timing is. But it's the irresponsible messaging that's getting to me - you can feel people starting to think that if they won't have to isolate then it can't be a problem.
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
The removal of the legal requirement to self-isolate after a positive test terrifies me. Having not caught it so far it seems that now it is more or less inevitable. I remember sitting in a meeting, next to someone who had a very heavy cold who seemed to think his presence at this meeting was crucial (it wasn't) and I caught that cold which manifested as more flu-like with me and resulted in several days in bed. OK, I didn't die but what if my immune system had been compromised because of underlying health issues. I don't trust this person, or others like him, not to be 'brave' and carry on mixing.
Luckily, a lot of people still seem to follow the advice of the experts and at the moment all the advice coming from them, is remain cautious. At our latest SAGE meeting, I didn't hear any scientist / doctor agreeing with the government changes.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
It does seem a dreadful risk to take for all those who will read it as meaning England is now Covid safe and they can do what they like.
Meanwhile over here, masks still obligatory in shops, schools, public transport and buildings and in confined outdoor spaces such as stations. Eating and drinking in bars and restaurants is only allowed when seated and a vaccine pass has to be shown to get in. No sharing of food and drink at non domestic gatherings and we still have to ventilate the room every hour.
That means that at patch club, mosaic and dance class we still have to wear masks and may not eat or drink, even seated. That should be relaxed on the 15th, if numbers are good.

Absolutely agree, @LG_ Really just sounds as if they are authorising a free for all, if the media interpretation is anything to go by. Im also annoyed by how difficult it was to find where to comment on compulsory vaccinations for NHS and care staff. If I hadn’t followed the link on this thread, I’d never have found it, it was well buried on the gov.uk site. However, having read some comments from the public in the papers, I’m now wondering about my past career. I was a good girl, kept myself up to date, followed all the new recommendations for patient safety as they were introduced, and had my flu and Hep B jabs ( and saw some colleagues lose their careers not through their own choice) It appears that I could have pleaded personal beliefs, dumped the gloves, masks and jabs and sat scratching my backside between patients, as their needs and safety obviously come lower in importance than my right to follow my career of choice.
Indeed @Bee witched. Prepare yourself for the 'influx' as soon as there's decent weather - just like the previous nonsense when lockdown measures were eased in England only. Wales will get the same
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I think it's extremely irresponsible for the government to be saying, or even implying, what they seem to be. It's coming across as do whatever you like from 25th Feb or whatever the date is. I think they should still be pushing isolation if testing positive, mask-wearing in public indoor places, hand washing, not breathing in people's faces etc even if they're no longer going to fine people. I suspect it's the prime minister's attempt to win back some popularity and gloss over all his lies and wrongdoing, or at least deflect press attention.

Lots of people who live here work in England and vice versa.
Our case numbers are currently low .... be interesting to see if they stay that way.

One box says you have to do nose and throat. The other, just nose.
Will the first one work if you don't do the throat?
