Oh and I had thought that our neighbour wasn't vaccinated because of the views she had about the virus, so I new the only way to find out was to ask her direct, she does like to ingratiate herself with the hamlet by making cakes and taking them round to everyone, she says she is lonely!!

My wife's cousin's kid has been suffering with anxiety and stuff that's only been made worse by Covid. They've just found out his favourite teacher caught it and died over Christmas which will be a tough thing to have to tell him. She was my age with two kids, fit and healthy etc.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I suppose there will come a day when the anti vaxxers will die of it, (or become immune)  most of us who have had our jabs will be ok and it will all be forgotten,  we’ve just got to be patient and wait for that day and hope they don’t clog the hospitals up to much along the way.

    Whitty and JVT knighted.

Not quite sure what to make of the whole honours tradition but pleased for the aforementioned two.

  • Cyril Smith and Jimmy Saville were knighted but Alan Turing, Charles Darwin and Shakespeare got nothing. Shows how meaningless it all is.

Since vaccines are not mandatory in this country anyone is entitled not to have one.
I have no problem with that as it is everyone's own personal choice as to whether they have it or not. It is when the anti-vaxxers targets anyone who chooses to have it or is involved in research, production, distribution etc etc. that goes beyond the pale.
If you don't want it, fair enough, that is your choice and you take on board all the risks in not doing so.
Anti-vaxxers need to stop harassing others from exercising their free choice in having the vaccine.
Both sides can make their own choice.
I am by choice fully vaccinated and boostered!

I don't understand why antivaxxers want to stop people from getting vaccinated. Do they think they're saving the world from a fate worse than death?
There's plenty of information about why they are against vaccination but nothing much about why they want to stop others.

I was surprised to see that our local mobile testing site, ie a van parked on the seafront every week, dishing out packs of LFTs, was accompanied by a big bloke wearing a hi vis jacket with security written on it. Now I understand. I hope when they catch some of these vandals, they throw the book at them. Jail time for criminal damage and endangering human life.

I suppose those who refuse vaccines are entitled to their rights, but that shouldn’t include being allowed to mix freely with those who have gone to the trouble of protecting themselves and others. They’ve got a choice, but we should have, too.

I think the right to be unvaccinated should include the responsibility of paying for their care when they do get infected and take up hospital resources from people who have less avoidable needs for medical expertise and time.

Same for parents who refuse to vaccinate their kids against measles, mumps, rubella, polio, diphtheria, smallpox and all the other diseases that needlessly kill or maim people who are unprotected, including babies too young to have been offered those vaccines.  Utterly irresponsible.
