No need to close schools is the latest from HM Government but school trips abroad banned, cancelling sporting fixtures on the cards but only to protect emergency services. We should never be critical of our marvellous nursing staff but have you ever noticed people in nurses uniforms about in the public, shopping, on the bus etc, surely they should change clothes at work? I mention this because on the BBC News Homepage there's a picture of a nurse taking swabs from a person in their car, the nurse has a face mask on but appears to be wearing her regular clothing which is exposed, if the virus gets onto clothing it could be transported home.
Just catching up on the news now I’m home from work. Work gives me another set of problems and planning to do. As @punkdoc has said, this IS serious and will be AWFUL. I have set up a hospital-style routine at home where I come home from work and wash hands (again), change, shower, don clean clothes and I have my own soap, towels etc. This is after I wash, change and wipe my belongings at the end of the shift too.
@wild edges You will be relieved to know, as we were, I'm sure, that this virus does not appear to affect children as badly as adults. We, their caregivers, still need to be able to take care of them when we are ill though, hence- pre-made meals, and liquids. Sleep is supposed to help in the recovery-so I guess that'll be the biggest cr@pshoot.
This is why I pay for the flu jab every year. Not to help the kids but so I don't have to be looking after them while feeling terrible myself. I never used to get ill before having kids. Maybe one or two mild colds in the winter but never anything bad. Now they seem to pass every virus going on to me and the lack of sleep seems to make me more susceptable.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Yep I have to pay as I'm not high risk enough to have it for free. I don't mind paying though as it probably costs me less than it does for the NHS to provide it and we've had more than our share of NHS services over the last 3 years.
