Does anyone know what happens with asymptomatic transmission? The last I saw no one really knew (as how can you tell?) but 'they' thought it may be as high as 40%.
The gov launched their app today, but from what I can gather, asymptomatic people are still being told not to take a test.
So how does any track/trace work effectively if asymptomatic 'threads' are ignored?
I have the app - if I now go somewhere and eventually get told (maybe after 'n' days) that I have been in contact with a 'live' person - then I (have to) isolate - fine. Good so far. But if I am then asymptomatic, I never have a test - so can never prove positive, and then don't form part of the chain (ie people who were in contact with me then never get notified).
    Have I got that right?

And then you could go out to the shop and get another message and do the whole 14 days again

My phone is somewhat more than 4 years old so I guess it won't work for me either.

  • Steve Tyler has his 1990s Nokia.  I have one, Hubby no mobile phone at all.  Certainly cannot afford to fork out 500 quid for one.  My youngest daughter said, "not being funny, but you wouldn't know how to use one"  She is correct, some button pressed in my nokia in my pocket the other day and came up with a screen of "stuff" I have never seen before.  I am  not stupid, my last job was on a Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit.  I have to practice.  Kids just stretch over me, and bash away at keys.  She is a software expert after all!!!I know there is a saying, something about tell me and I will forget, etc that's me!!

We’ve both got the original Nokia’s as well.  But then we know what the rules are about distance and hygiene. We don’t intend having family parties or cramming into a bar.

My phone is incompatible with the app so I will just carry on as normal.
I may have (or even possibly had) the virus with no symptoms.
I will not be going for a test. The test centre here is 2 miles away but as I have no transport it would mean 4 separate bus journeys to get there and back. Not a good idea if you have symptoms and not much point if you have none.
If I become very ill I would assume I would be hospitalised so tested there.
