I would dearly love to see my son who as you all know was very poorly and almost died from the virus, I would also love to see the rest of the family as well. We have not seen each other since before the pandemic but we know that it is not worth the risk. We are prepared to wait that much longer when it will be safer with the vaccine. Please don't take the risk.

The above article is about the Welsh Intensive Care Society basically pleading with Welsh government to revoke the Christmas rules. This is why:

I have just had had the misfortune of having to go to my local pharmacy in town. I saw a woman pulling her visor up and mask down to light a ciggy and someone in the queue was saying that they don’t have to wear a mask because they have a severe breathing condition. It was a window on the world and reminded me why we are in such a mess.

Just watching Matt Hancock making his announcements in parliament and it seems a new and seemingly more infectious variant of Covid has emerged in London, the south east and some other EU countries.

Stay safe, stay at home and keep your loved ones and all the carers safe too.

Just listening to that. This doesn’t sound good.

@pansyface   It's exactly the same here - busy everywhere.  Queues in the rain and cold to get in an out of shops - I went to the supermarket (local) this morning and had to move away from people that brushed past me.  Luckily, Monday early morning, not too many people.  Apparently, no curfew here for the 24th Dec. which is THE big night.  But curfew for 31st December.  The younger set will have that in hand.  Oh dear!!

  • Yes I have been watching Hancock too we are going into teir 3 no surprise but schools staying open so it won't help.

Yes, we're in Tier 3 now. Schools are almost all finishing in-person lessons on Thursday, round here anyway. Interesting about the new strain - things have certainly changed here in the past couple of weeks. I now know several people who have been very careful (not shielding, just being cautious and diligent) throughout and who haven't changed their habits but have now had positive tests.

Agree with you Punkdoc, we have desided Christmas might be it the summer for us, (pretend we are in Australlia perhaps!) My friend in Essex has posted London and parts of Essex are now in tier 3.Following the norht, but when you look at pictures of the shoppers in London, I counted 2 masks, out of the hundreds of people, Kate mosses (silly ****h) sister snogging with toungues her female friends saying she is a superspreader and is goning to spread the virus because they are young and need to enjoy themselves.  Trip to my Tesco today, bloke in his 30s, unmasked!

Same here @pansyface Firstborn has bought a turkey big enough to feed the five thousand.  Lord knows what she will do with it if we don't go.  We usually bring quite a bit home with us on boxing day for sandwiches etc.
