The Irish government have closed schools and colleges I believe that we may see similar restrictions here soon and as the virus appears to be worse here there could be more restrictions which may involve us all before very long.
Sorry @Lizzie27, I don't know about that particular product, but sanitisers used within hospitals [ to be used combined with washing in soap and water ] all contain alcohol.
I agree with you on many things @Hostafan1, but I really believe now is the time to start taking this very seriously. This is not meant to be alarmist, just realistic.

My understanding is that it's the percentage of alcohol in the product that's relevant. I reckon half the stuff people have been buying in gallons, is probably lower than that, when you consider the costs involved. Surely all those lovely companies wouldn't be trying to make money out of this...would they? I'm joking, of course, in case anyone doesn't get sarcasm.
All expert advice I've heard has said soap and water is more effective.

Thanks @punkdoc and @Dovefromabove. I think I'll stick to soap and water too. I have been finding it seems kinder on my hands than handwash anyway. I've just re-read the blurb on the back of the spray which lists past known viruses it's supposed to protect against although not Covid 19 naturally.
I agree with Punkdoc, I think it's going to be very serious indeed and we're taking every precaution we can.
No I wasn't quite correct but the ingredients contain Hydrogen Peroxide which I believe is bleach and it has some sort of oil which is similar to glycerol, I wasn't actually giving a recipe I was generalising somewhat, I do hope that no one read my post and actually considered that it contained a recipe because it didn't just a heads up that there is a WHO recipe for hand sanitiser which may be ten years out of date and not mention Caronavirus but none the less is a recipe for hand sanitise which as it states is useful when washing facilities are not to hand.
I think the problem is that folk are publicising that and stuff like it online, giving the impression that the WHO is telling us this is what to do NOW.... it isn't and it's just adding to the misinformation and confusion ... and once people realise that a lot of stuff online shouldn't be believed, they don't know what to believe so they believe nothing ... not even the real stuff

An American evangelist with a very large following, is pushing the use of colloidal silver as a treatment. Not only will it not work, but it is also dangerous. Sadly many will believe him.

If this hand sanitiser situation doesn't sort itself out soon I'm going to have to set up a handwashing facility in the back of the car for the alfresco nappy changes.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

A flask of hot water, a bar of soap, a bucket and a towel in the back of an estate car ... it's what we did before 'wipes' ... and that was in the days of terry nappies.

You can all laugh and say " I told you so" if I drop dead from it.

My daughter has to regularly wash her hands for work, and it plays havoc with her skin at the best of times.
