I really hope so. My daughter wants to visit and, much as I'd love to see her over Christmas, I wish she wouldn't. A change in regs would make it so much easier.
Easter isn't that far away. With any luck we could all party  then even if it has to be outside. Most I of the goodies would keep or be frozen.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Duck breast and red wine and juniper sauce here with gratin dauphinois and broccoli.   Did it for the first time years ago when Possum was a wee lass and she's decided it's our traditional Xmas meal.   Never turkey, goose, beef or other.

I think a U turn would be a very good idea for maximum safety.  An Easter or even May Day or Whitsun celebration would be so much safer and could be done with windows and even doors open or outside.

I would fully support a revoke of the Christmas rules. Not that it would any difference to me and my family - the most we will do is a doorstep, masked and distanced visit with a food drop-off (plated meal for microwaving and a few goodies).

How about June 25th for an alternative?

Do you vary the cheese and/or the bread @pansyface

Oysters, foie gras with salad and coquelet stuffed with ceps and chestnuts. Prosecco. (My OH is Italian).   Roast veggies with lots of garlic and green beans and gravy.  Cheeseboard washed down with some good red wine and Christmas pudding.  No more Armengnac left but could ruffle around the cupboard and find some Lemoncello!!  A walk along the beach after a siesta - just the three of us.  My special OH, me and the dog.  Delivered my Christmas mince pies to my (delighted) neighbours.  Not as good looking as @D0rdogne_Damselbut sure tasted good!!
    Done and dusted!!
    Have a pleasant evening.

@philippasmith2 for some people, changing the rules and making safety official will help people better resist their friends and rellies who don't mind taking risks and like bending the rules.

No mince pies here @tuikowhai34 but I might have a rummage and see if I still have some home-made mincemeat lurking.  All for OH tho.  Farmer neighbour is diabetic.  Have you had any little Pézenas pies recently?  Yum yum.

You cannot reschedule Christmas the whole point is to brighten the long dark days of winter. I agree that most people will do what they think is best. I am surprised that so many on here have family who would not respect the fears of their relatives and need government guidelines . I have my own opinions but would always consider the feelings of others. I personally am not the slightest bit worried about the virus but I wouldn’t force my presence on those who have concerns.

Not lately @Obelixx   They are very nice though.  My English friends love the markets in Pezenas and we always stop for a coffee and little pastry.

Sorry, but leaving people to do what they think is best, is just not going to work.
A lot of people have behaved appallingly throughout COVID.
People need to be told what to do, and the evidence is blindingly obvious.
My OH has not seen her Mum for 2 years, I have not seen mine this year, but to do so would be madness.

@punkdoc people won’t do as they are told. People don’t trust the government and people are inherently selfish.
