What part of "you should stay at home unless shopping for basic necessities" do some people not understand, I have seen people who's age would put them at the thick end of this virus coming back from Tesco with newspapers, they must be coming from Tesco because the newspaper shop shouldn't be open. They are putting themselves at risk, hospital staff at risk and the shop workers at risk but they think that they are only buying a newspaper.
I believe newsagents are exempt.
Like the rest of the measures, this wasn't thorough enough and people will abuse the loopholes.
On another note, I presume online retailers are still open as usual and dispatching goods. Does anyone know if Primrose/crocus etc. Are still open?
I've already made my feelings known about that Ashley character on another thread. He's keeping the country fit @barry island, didn't you know? What he means is - his employees are disposable, and he can easily replace them while he counts his cash. In any case - have you seen the people who shop in that place? Yeah - budding Olympians, every last one of 'em
My daughter is now coughing, so she won't be going to work. She is one of those 'keeping customers satisfied' at our supermarkets. Please be kind to all those in the same profession, when you visit a shop.
Hmm - 'keeping customers satisfied'. That would be a good title for a song...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fairy, I would be careful about the "keeping customers satisfied) People of a sensitive nature, look away now. I was working in a Nursing Home years back, I am usually vry good with accents, but have a problem with a very heavy Irish one, Watching the nest and how many times am I pushing the replay button!! We had a patient, lets call him Fred, he rang his call bell, I went and answered it. "Hello Fred", Fred says (I thought) "I want want 6", 6 what I ask, my colleague comes in to translate. He actually had said "I want sex", I apologised and said it wasnt in my contract, managed to get very far out of earshot before crying with laughter
Well I've been on social distancing for nearly 2 weeks now.hubby works from home and I've put my gardening business on hold.all my customers are elderly and I've rang them to explain.most are fine but one did say she was still shopping...I wish boris had been firmer with people earlier.people are so selfish these days.and they dont listen.bring in the army!! I've ran out of compost but hey ho my garden will be a little different this year!
"In today’s Times Kirsty tells us all about how her family have decamped to their second home in North Devon. Taking with them her husband who has tested positive for CV. On top of this his sister visited and took it back to Edinburgh. Oh and they’re not isolating within the house, but they’re not ‘sharing towels’ so that’s ok.
We have ONE district hospital here in North Devon with SEVEN ventilators. The entire Allsopp family could need EVERY bed within the next two weeks instead of staying put in West London where their medical provision is."
😡😡😡
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Back from my one trip out . The village is usually quiet, but actually there were more people about. Runners, cyclists, people sat in cars, obviously waiting for someone, and dog walkers. All being very careful to stay well apart. At the chemist the queue wasn't too big, only two in the building the rest outside standing apart. The biggest queue was the post office about a dozen waiting all properly spaced. I went into the co-op next door managed to get veg and cucumber, no milk, no bread, ( good job I'm ok for those) I got the last bag of sugar ( planning to bake) but it is hard to stay apart as there is little room in the isles luckily only half a dozen shoppers, at least they have marked the spaces on the floor near the tills.
It’s ridiculous how many people are fleeing to Cornwall, there’s one hospital they have 12 beds. Should have army blocks on all mains roads. It’s got to get tougher, I think Boris has done a good job feeding it to the people in small doses, as soon as they don’t comply he ups it a bit more. If he’d have blocked everything at the start it would have triggered a mass of riots and even more panic, as when Margaret Thatcher got to tough to quickly.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Went to Waitrose this morning, orderly queue outside set 2m apart to keep footfall in the shop low. Was very surreal feeling, but the shop was well stocked for the most part, and they were regularly wiping down the trolley handles. Loads of Waitrose Essential 9 pack toilet roll but no other size or brands, limited to 2 per customer.
Delivery windows are fully booked for months but as I’m not in the vulnerable category, I would rather go in once a week and save the slot for those who can’t/shouldn’t go in.
