I have, unusually for me, been very supportive of the government, up until now, but having 4 countries with different rules, is totally unmanageable.
But the other 3 enjoy taking a stand against "English" government. So they are going to have stricter rules to show that they are the "better" ones, more "caring for the people".

Going to work was allowed during the lockdown and many people had been going to work every day (non-essential workers). Although most companies are running some kind of skeleton crew to be able to social distance. So I fail to see any change. Some companies will remain close, some will try to resume some kind of activity but that depends more on their cashflow and their choice than on the government. The rules are still the same - going to work if you can't work from home is allowed.
One more thing: The lockdown rules were different across Europe. Some countries have stricter rules (France, Spain), some less strict. In many countries, most people continued to work. The infection rates went down everywhere.

    😂

I’ve been doing jobs in the front garden today - never seen so many people waking by.
My garden and I live in South Wales.
  • Watching boris on tv.have to say Keir starmer is good .I'm still no clearer tho.i think if boris started with " you still cant see your mum" then I would know what he meant.couldnt care aless about primark.

But you can see you mum now - you just have to be in an open space and 2m apart. You can't see your dad at the same time but you could see him later. So I suppose he could hide behind a tree while you saw your mum and then they could swap places. Maybe.
Personally I don't think the new rules are clear or enforceable and I think they were implemented too early anyway.

Well you can drive to take exercise, so when you go to visit someone, take a skipping rope ... skipping will keep you 2metres apart and exercise you at the same time. ... Sorted 👍

Norwich is very chuffed that its place as the safest area in the UK has been recognised by Boris using NCFC colours of yellow and green for his new logo.

So hang on, we can visit people not in our household as long as we stay 2m apart? I didn't get that from the message. Can I drive 200miles to go and see people? Isn't that a "non-essential" journey? Are we allowed to make "non-essential" journeys now?
What if you want to drive 200miles to Scotland or Wales?
You can't see people - you can only see one person. But there doesn't seem to be any limit that I've seen on how far you can drive in order to see the one person.

So now DIY masks have to be worn for shopping and on public transport ... even that is ambiguous ... does that mean DIY as in the ones OH wears that he got from B&Q, or does that mean ‘homemade’?   Or either or both ... will a scarf over my face do? 🤷‍♀️

Boris has acknowledged in the past that he doesn’t like telling people what to do because he is, ‘... by nature, a libertarian...’.

Problem is, at the moment, that’s his job! 😖

I found a few DIY masks under the stairs. How many times can you use them?
    In London. Keen but lazy.
