Face coverings aren’t mandatory in Wales but I noticed that Sainsbury’s had the ‘please wear a face covering’ signs out today. Maybe individual businesses are trying to encourage it anyway. Again, about 50% of shoppers had masks on.

In our local Morrisons I would say that 90%+ are wearing face masks,a good number of the staff are wearing shields as well.
Seems to be well organised in there!

Went into local town yesterday with youngest daughter, and one shop, no social distancing observed, and most of the late teens early 20,s not wearing masks.

There have been spikes in France, mostly, it would seem, caused by young people letting rip on holiday and socialising without distancing.

A friend of mine has posted this on Facebook.  Thought it might entertain you.  I like points 3, 4 and 10 best.  13 does not apply here.

    1. So let me get this straight, there’s no cure for a virus that can be killed by sanitizer and hand soap?
    2. Is it too early to put up the Christmas tree yet? I have run out of things to do.
    3. When this virus thing is over, I still want some of you to stay away from me.
    4. If these last months have taught us anything, it’s that stupidity travels faster than any virus on the planet.
    5. Just wait a second – so what you're telling me is that my chance of surviving all this is directly linked to the common sense of others? You’re kidding, right?
    6. If you believe all this will end and we will get back to normal just because we reopen everything, raise your hand. Now slap yourself with it.
    7. Another Saturday night in the house and I just realized the Black bin goes out more than me.
    8. Whoever decided an Off-licence is more essential than a hair salon is obviously a bald-headed alcoholic.
    9. Remember when you were little and all your underwear had the days of the week on them. Those would be helpful right now.
    10. The spread of Covid-19 is based on two factors: 1. How dense the population is and 2. How dense the population is.
    11. Remember all those times when you wished the weekend would last forever? Well, wish granted. Happy now?
    12. It may take a village to raise a child, but I swear it’s going to take a whole vineyard to home school one.
    13. Did a big load of pyjamas so I would have enough clean work clothes for this week.

Haha.. I love #10.  Made me giggle.

I just found out our state health board is providing each teacher with five N95 masks and two face shields for teaching.  As the N95 masks are designed to be worn once and disposed.. not sure what we are supposed to do for the second week of school?!  I plan to mark mine according to #9 above, but figure after a few weeks of wear my makeup/face products/natural oils will get pretty nasty on there.. as there is no way to wash them.  Maybe that will be all the longer we are teaching in person.. considering what a hot mess the US is currently regarding the spread of Covid.

7 doesn't apply here either @BenCotto.   We have a weekly wheelie bin collection in July and August  for both general waste and recyclables and don't fill either every week so my weekly raid on the SM is more frequent.

I have just been reading about another Global pandemic which is happening right now and which no-one seems to talk about.
    It is Tuberculosis (TB).
1.5 million people die from it every year and it is estimated that 1.8 billion people are currently infected.

The saddest thing about that is that TB is still very treatable (although antibiotic resistance is a growing concern), and there is also a very effective vaccine for it, the deaths are almost all due to inequality, not the bacteria.

Actually the disease is becoming more resistant to drugs which is the really worrying thing so vaccines are not as effective as they once were.
There were more than half a million cases of drug resistant TB last year.
