We don't think it's going to affect us much as we were already self isolating, apart from not going to get the paper every day. We will be disappointed at that but needs must and we'll have to read it online. Daughter has just been on phone teaching me how to skype, which we're having trouble with, probably as millions of others are doing the same. I do hope however my new tumble dryer arrives tomorrow as scheduled and is not cancelled.

A local shoe repair business has just messaged that he will be at the shop clearing up until 10am tomorrow and if anyone has shoes to collect they can come then, this sounds very sensible but surely its going against the concept of a lockdown?

As we adjust to a new way of living, and a new set of worries, consider some relaxation by way of meditation. I have shared this with my NHS team:

It's so quiet outside this morning. Clear blue skies and the only car I've seen moving was a police van on patrol. I've heard a couple of loud exhausts tearing up the bypass but I assume that's the County Lines boys on essential deliveries :#
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

What part of "you should stay at home unless shopping for basic necessities" do some people not understand, I have seen people who's age would put them at the thick end of this virus coming back from Tesco with newspapers, they must be coming from Tesco because the newspaper shop shouldn't be open. They are putting themselves at risk, hospital staff at risk and the shop workers at risk but they think that they are only buying a newspaper.

I was out the front taking fleece off of my blueberry bushes which are just coming into flower, and I could hear what sounded like a continuous rumble of traffic, now it could have been the M1 which is about four miles away or the A45 which is two miles away or maybe my Tinnitus.

According to Government's website, newsagents are allowed to stay open (for ciggies and papers). I presume that if they closed them, they could be accused of shutting down information. I was surprised at the list of shops that were still permitted to be open, among them bicycle shops, hardware shops, laundrettes and drycleaners.
That said, shops are supposed to monitor a restriction on numbers entering at any one time and a 2 metre spacing for queues outside.

So if you took sensible precautions, and as part of your daily one exercise, could collecting a daily newspaper be okay - discuss!

Why use such draconian measures like "Lockdown" if people are allowed to do what they think is Ok? People at the weekend thought it was "Ok" to fill the parks and holiday places up, people think that it's "ok" to buy newspapers when they have been instructed that they can go for a walk but not go into shops unless it is essential, I say "Instructed" because that takes away the public's choice to do what they would normally do. No going to buy a newspaper is no more "Ok" than going to Mr Mike Ashley's Emporium to buy running socks would be, in my opinion.
