Lovely to 'see' you @Dordogne Damsel Some men find strong, independent women too challenging. Keep going , doing what you're doing. Glad you and Charlie are ok. Plenty of cake to eat - what's not to like? There's been some sad times on the forum already this year, but we're here, hanging on in there, keeping each other company, and looking forward to a new year of plants, seeds, grass cutting, digging, cuttings taking, and pruning and.... Aaagh...when will it ever end?
Love to both of you x
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Hi DD, lovely to see you back on the Forum. It’s just like old times with some of you posting again after a spell. Glad Charlie is going well.
We are experiencing a late burst of hot weather before winter sets in, so I keep swapping clothes and bed sheets. 😡 if you’re interested, I’ve put some rose photos on the jigsaw planet site. Helps to fill the day, while we are a bit isolated.
Just watched Nicola Sturgeon making a statement on TV .... why can't we in England have leaders capable of her statesmanlike clarity instead of the blustering vagueness we're getting from our lot 😠

Wit the obvious exceptions such as Diane Abbot, women politicians have been practising clarity all their lives - brothers, husbands, children to manage.

"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Things have come to a sad pass when a statement from the England soccer manager is head and shoulders in maturity/integrity/humanity and plain common sense than anything we're getting from an English politician ... an extract below ...
"...We were due to play next week and to represent you all this summer, but now is clearly not the moment for us to take centre-stage. The heroes will be the men and women who continue working tirelessly in our hospitals and medical centres to look after our friends and families. They won’t receive the individual acclaim, but we all know their importance is beyond anything we do on the pitch.
When we play again as an England team, it will be at a time when not only our country but the rest of the world as well is on the road to recovery. Hopefully we will be closer to each other than ever, and ready for the beautiful distraction that football can bring...."
