It's ok @Fairygirl. It is a very worrying time.  I was just worried people thought I was stockpiling. The cows are sucklers and their babies stay with them. Some of them are really quiet, more like pets. Cow cuddles are very therapeutic. :D

I could do with a cow to cuddle right now.

I always read through this thread but don’t join in with the conversation. However, we were meant to be flying to Australia on Sunday to visit our daughter & family but we cancelled our flights due to having to self isolate for 14 days on arrival in Oz which would have caused problems for us. Today the Australian government have announced they are closing their borders to anyone that isn’t a citizen or resident. I know @chicky has her daughter out there & just thought I’d post this in case she wasn’t aware.

Not sure what I'll be doing over the next few weeks.  Both my daughters are teachers and Firstborn's husband is Head of a large secondary school.  I have Secondborn's boys 2 days a week and they go to nursery for the other three.  Hubby does some school runs for Firstborn's girls and teaches guitar too.  It's very confusing for schools at the moment regarding which schools will stay open and which will shut.  I'm not up for looking after the boys every day, not even sure I should be looking after them at all.  I suppose I will just have to play it by ear and see what happens.

@Fritillary, that's strange, we've just been to Sainsbury's and they've let us buy 4 pks apples, grapes, bananas, potatoes, carrots and tomatoes (blast, I've just realized I forgot the salad!).

@Yviestevie, all schools and nurseries are shutting from Friday night but special categories of schoolchildren are still to go in -don't know how that will work. Grandparents are not supposed to be looking after children as they believe the children transmit the virus easily.

I wasn't rude to anyone. I honestly thought it was 3  of each item. I would not have picked them up otherwise. They just got put to one side. :(
I'd have thought it meant 3 of each item too. Not sure if it means you can by 3 bags of carrots, but you can't buy 4 loose carrots??
No doubt I'll find out when I'm next on a till.

@Lizzie27 Your apples grapes and bananas would come under fruit.
It was the supervisor who came over to us. The till operator was a bit bemused by it as well. She put our tomatoes through as fruit and the garlic as herbs.  I was about to put them to one side.
@Hostafan1 Our carrots which were prepacked went back as well as the onions. (I did realise afterwards that I had picked up 6 onions. I am used to picking up a net of onions.)
Oh well, never mind. I am going to the potting shed this afternoon and sow some seeds.

@Fritillary, I think your supermarket is mistaken, it's supposed to be 3 household items, like packs of loo rolls, washing up liquid, Persil etc. The supermarkets here, Norfolk, are well stocked with fruit and veg, no limit, but Sainsburys have hardly any household items left so not possible to buy more than three anyway!

Serene raid on the SM this morning.  Roads very quiet and no patrols.  SM very quiet but not at all deserted.  Everyone very calm and going about their purchases.  No restrictions but no panic buying either so I found everything we need as well as some decorating stuff - new brushes, acrylic varnish and radiator paint.  The only things in short supply are a few frozen veg ranges and organic eggs.

Home now and all set to go paint some walls once we've done a bit of admin for our finances.
