Glad the water is receding @punkdoc . After a bright start here is is very grey & dull we could really use some sun on the back of the house as still no heating today & last night was COLD. Now I know what it's like when some of you run out of heating oil, of course we were used to there only being 1 warm room when we were younger must have got soft in our old age it's a shock going out of the warm room to anywhere else at the mo not helped by plumbers propensity for leaving doors open brr.
Morning all. Fingers crossed the promised rain won't be too heavy, @punkdoc.
No workmen here yet today, too wet for the insulators to render the outside of the house, but we were expecting plumbers to hang radiators... dunno where they are. I'll ring the boss builder in a mo and find out if there's any useful preparation I can do, depending on who's planning to arrive first. Electrician is due soon for second fixing in the bedrooms, involving moving furniture to the opposite side from its current position ready for the plumbers...
Getting out of the cupboard wasn't quite as easy as backing into it. Hubby was a bit cross I hadn't told him I was going to investigate the noise... but of course, he'd have said I shouldn't do it, which was why I hadn't told him...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I know what you mean @Liriodendron. I have just reorganised our laundry bin and indoor recycling systems without consulting OH cos a) he wouldn't have understood and b) he'd have said no. As it is I now have a clean, tidy, organised and much smaller recycling waystation in the annex before it gets cycled out to the bigger bins in the garage - no smells, no mess and more space. Works for me.
Hope your chaps turn up and get on. So frustrating waiting for others to finish jobs.

Morning all. My recycling station is now one big basket on the top of the fridge-freezer which is decanted once or twice a week to the outdoor bins/boxes/bags. It has reduced the faff (slightly). In the spirit of not ‘wasting’ heating (well, money) we set timers for individual rooms. Woe betide anyone who wants a shower if it’s not 6-7am, or to sit in the lounge if it’s not 7-9pm etc.
Very pleased to say that niece has at last had her twins, lst one at 3.30 a.m this morning and the second nearly an hour later - they definitely didn't want to arrive yet! Although smaller than the medics said, mum and babies are well. What a relief!

Also on a cheerful note, we've just had our pothole fixed - much to our amazement. It's right on the edge of the road and our drive so wasn't sure they'd do it but reported it the day after Boxing Day. Workmen appeared early New Years Day (1) to white-line it so we thought yeah, it'll take 6 months or so to fix but no, they've done it today. I explained to the men I'd had a go at filling it myself last year with 10 litres of high strength concrete (which wasn't quite enough) but the narrow lane with a blind corner made it a bit dangerous to work on. They were gobsmacked I'd even tried.
Hi folks, haven't been around for a while as I've not been well and couldn't settle to anything. Hope everyone is OK. Been thinking about PatE and the fires in Oz quite a bit over the past few months, hope you and yours are all OK Pat.
I've been trying to get myself back into gardening over the past few days, weeded the front garden and sown some seeds today. I'm hoping this will get me moving and back into the swing of things.
How lovely to see you @Yviestevie 😊 ... @WonkyWomble was just saying the other day that she’d not seen you post gif a while. She’s been a bit sporadic cos she’s busy at work etc. I do hope you’re much better now ((hugs)) Do take care of yourself and gong overdo it ... it’s chilly out there 🥶
