  • All seems relatively quiet and dryish here in Norfolk ... hope everyone else is ok.

Yesterday was interesting. Firstly I had my first session with a new (to me) recently set up writing group ... some interesting group dynamics ... having initially stated that she aimed for a structured approach and a degree of ‘academic rigor’ etc the founder’s nose seems somewhat out of joint  and she is less enthusiastic  about it than when I had an initial meeting with just her back in December, and is talking about leaving and setting up another, less structured, group ... the rest of us seem to have jelled and are happy to continue. We shall see ...

After that a swift 15 minute scurry across the city centre to get a much needed hair cut ... that gave me 20 minutes to get to Specsavers ... I’d not had an eye test for two years so was pleased to learn that my prescription had hardly changed so I don’t need new glasses.

I grabbed some baguettes and fruit from M&S, caught my bus home
    and flopped.

Today the current knitting project needs sewing together and I must knit a very long button band ... another batch of wool for the next project is on its way.

  • Early start today (well early for us since OH retired) had to get a last shower in before the water & heat went off at 8 am. Two plumbers today working in different places so we are mostly confined to the lounge.  Hope flooding resolves for those affected. We did not think much of the ending to the Pale Horse either.

Have had a bad night with cramps and knee throbbing.  Don't know what I've done to deserve those but frustrating.

It's dry so far today so OH is outside hoeing the gravel at the front to clean off the weeds.   Forth Bridge job.  The ground is still to wet for weeding or planting but if we stay dry should be good in a day or three.   Itching to get on. My snowdrops from the Belgian garden have done really well this winter and bulked up nicely.  Look glorious but will need spreading about a bit and all sorts of other stuff to move and/or plant out.

I shall be busy in the annex putting feet on a recycled kitchen unit so we can sort out boxes of tools and keep the saws in a dry, non-rusting home.

Huge hugs and restorative chocolate for everyone whose garden is flooded.  My weather forecast has a tweet saying bits of the Highlands had wind speeds up to 190kph so I hope all our Scottish friends are OK.

Enjoyed seeing my friend and her photos of South America, she has so many we only got as far as Chile and Patagonia, lovely scenery and gorgeous deep blue lakes.

@Dovefromabove I hope you have some hair left! You seem to get it got so often. Mine needs cutting now, haven't been to a hairdresser since November.

I hate hoeing gravel @Obelixx , such a nuisance now that glyphosate is banned and vinegar is useless and bad for the ground. I have a large drive and gravelled parking area.

So de we @Busy-Lizzie and some bright spark in the past laid the gravel all along the front of the ruin and down to the barn!   OH hasn't cottoned on to that tho and doesn't realise either that leaving the gravel all loose like he is at the mo is making a perfect seed bed for the next lot of weedlings.   Still, keeps him fit and busy.

I go to a hairdresser once a year.   Rasta doggy goes every 2 months and so does OH.

I'm waiting for that screwdriver battery to recharge so I can finish my legs.

...what sort of finish are you going for? Satin, or a high sheen French polish? I tend to leave mine rough and just use linseed oil....

I have my hair cut every 3 weeks. ( note to self :9am tomorrow )
    Devon.
  • The shorter your hair is the more frequently it needs trimming. I have my hair cut every 6 weeks ish ... my hair’s so thick and grows so fast that it needs a regular sort out now that it’s short. When I had the long ‘pre-Raphaelite’ look way back it still needed a trim every 3 months or so or I was in danger of tripping over it đŸ€ŁÂ

Just been to the Doc and he's taken my stitches out. All OK.

I found a green tomato growing in the GH about 10 days ago. I put it on the kitchen windowsill and this is it now. I wonder if it is edible? I will find out tomorrow. If so it will be a record for here.
