Back from a lovely night away and a fantastic meal at Tommy Banks Black Swan. There was an amuse bouche, which I could happily eat as my only food forever more: a tart made with a Cep powder pastry, a layer of Hen of the Wood mushrooms, covered with Lincolnshire Poacher custard, topped with a layer of smoked Ox heart, that had been dehydrated and then crumbed. Also had a trip to Harlow Carr gardens, the winter borders were looking very bonny.
@Dovefromabove, I actually thought of you whilst I was eating it, I thought from things that we have said, that it would be right up your street. There was also a divine faggot of Roe Deer "bits" served with the Deer fillet.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Sounds fab @punkdoc.Ā Ā Glad you enjoyed it.Ā I hope you have photos to share of Harlow Carr.
@chicky - not gravel.Ā We have a large area of that at the back in two different grades and it is chock full of weeds.Ā Ā Ditto the fine gravel drive at the front.Ā Plus which, my sneaky ambition is to have a surface we can dance on - for practising our ballroom but also if we have a gathering.Ā I'll just have to scale it down after costing the removal of some of the crud so we can plant in the surrounding beds that would thus be created.
Me too, clearly, but it's getting expensive.Ā On the other hand, Possum finishes her studies this summer and will then, in theory, be self-financing which will save us a good few more thousand euros per annum - rent, services, feeding, clothing, transport, medical insurance and so on and I do plan on being active for a good many years yet so need a nearly all weather play area.
Puncdoc's meal sounds disgusting, but, as I said earlier, I have a tummy bug. OH is fine. I'm either boiling hot or freezing cold. Hope it's not what friend in the village hadĀ
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Must admit I had to google Lincolnshire Poacher custard so now there's a new cheese I didn't know about.
Sorry you're feeling unwell @Busy-Lizzie and hope it passes soon.
OH and I have been out to the monthly dance practice - 3 hours of dancing all our new and old steps and with people from all the other classes there too.Ā Very jolly.Ā I was sensible and only did one dance in 2 and so far, so good.Ā Now to see if my knee "talks" to me all night or tomorrow.
Lots of teasing going on but about tomorrow's rugby, not that other thing.
Just winding down now before bed.Ā Ā Persisting down all the way homeĀ so I hope it gets it all out of the way tonight so I can have a dry patch for planting garlic tomorrow.Ā Ā
Hope everyone sleeps well, especially @Pat E who is welcome to some of our rain too now.
