Been to Waitrose, then walked up to to dentist. He had a look and a bit of painful prod and has decided I've got an infection . He's referring me to the dental hospital to discuss having roots removed under sedation , prescribed antibiotics which I have had dispensed and taken first dose and it's not even 10.30. I'm exhausted, lol
I used to do those puzzles but don't have time any more. Too much patch/sewing homework of one sort or another, decorating season coming up once there's more light and a garden I haven't been able to play in for months and that needs some serious attention. Maybe next winter then.
Got a mail late last night from one of the patchers telling me not to make a cake as she has 3 galettes du roi to bring!! And so it goes on. Chocolate almond cake already made but will get used up tomorrow pm at Scrabble with the Anglo-French mob. OH and I go just once a year for the session with school kids from a lycée in La Roche who come to play in English. They're getting parsnip and maple syrup cake too and a Borrowdale teabread.
Thin January it is not.
Lovely sunny day today but very cold and windy so happy to have indoor activities till things warm up a bit. Getting soft now I no longer have to cope with Belgian winters.
Stay safe @Pat E . Hope you don't need the emergency getaway. Good you're reducing the laurels @Busy-Lizzie . I always think they look dark and dull.
I hope Blue Monday isn't to blue for all Forkers. Possum's birthday today so no blues here.

We are doing our best to stay safe😃. It’s our terrible summer this year. Millions of acres lost around the country.
Finishing off our evening viewing soon. Have watched Tom Kerridge, Greg on Eat Better for Kess, and now Masterchef with John and Greg. No wonder I’ve got indigestion. 😁
It's been one of those days ... I should have caught an early-ish bus into the city for a U3A meeting ... I got to the bus stop in plenty of time for 9.30 and discovered someone was still waiting for the 9am bus ... she checked the bus company website and discovered that Norwich had been gridlocked due to an accident at a busy interchange with the A47 and traffic was being diverted through the city and our bus route was impassable ............ we gave up waiting and I emailed the meeting convener apologising ... I didn't have his phone number ... I thought about leaping into the car and driving in but realised that the main road out of our village was one of the ones that was impacted by the accident, and by the time I'd got into the city and found a car park with a space the meeting would be over halfway done ... such a shame as it was a meeting I was particularly looking forward to.
Anyway, as I'd got decent clothes on I popped down to Waitrose and grabbed some supplies and cheered myself up with a £1 bunch of daffs.
Now I've put the shopping and the decent clothes away and the kettle is on ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
There is now a lovely bare area where the first laurel was, quite big, just right for a new shady bed Tree man cut it right down. Thinking anemones, aquilegias, cyclamen, ferns, geranium macrorhizum, bulbs etc, but will have to wait until summer to know how shady it is. Left the second laurel, but it's had a haircut, as it provides privacy from next door's windows. NDN was pleased to have her side trimmed as it was in the way of her whirly washing line.
I've painted 2 architraves and done some gardening. Sunny but cold today.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Not done much today, although it was sunny, a bit too cold for me, apart from walking around to count the daffs coming up. Your day sounds irritating @Dovefromabove - isn't it always the way. Did anyone watch the 'slow' TV last night on New Zealand? Quite calming although over long at 2 1/2 hrs. Can't say it inspired me to visit though.
