Good morning. -3C here and very clear, sunny and muchly frosty so lots of white hoaring. Pond frozen too! Might have to go and do the weekly shop this pm as a general strike starts tomorrow and have no idea what and where will be affected and we need bird food as well as basics for us.

The vet rang. I'll get the result for Cushings next week. Meanwhile Hannah seems a bit perkier this morning and has eaten some breakfast. Maybe she had a tooth abscess which has burst. The young vet didn't look, said he left teeth to his more experienced colleagues.
I've been getting more logs in from outside to the place under the sitting room stairs. They have got a bit wet despite the tarpaulin and need to dry out. OH can't do logs at the moment because of his shoulder, but my lower arthritic spine is aching. Wood burners are lovely but when logs need shifting and you are getting older it's not so much fun.
The sitting room was a barn, so big with a high beamy ceiling. I wonder if all those retired people who buy barn conversions on "Escape to the Country" know what they are letting themselves in for. Thinking maybe next year we'll use the smaller living room instead but it doesn't have TV so I'll have to arrange for a man to fit a satellite. It has a wood burner too but the log store is nearer.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hope your horse is better soon @Busy-Lizzie. I don't know what Cushings is either but it sounds nasty!
OH has just had his MRI scan - now we just wait for hopefully good results. He was a bit traumatised after so I prescribed coffee and cake - always works for me. So glad it wasn't me though as I'm claustophobic and would need a very strong sedative first!
I'd get the satellite man in now @Busy-Lizzie , even if it's only for Freeview and then keep the big living room for when you have lots of people about. We've closed off all the bedrooms and radiators upstairs except the small one I use for sewing. Haven't lit a fire yet but that may happen in the next day or so. Have you had your 1€ loft insulation yet?
Off to Luçon for our weekly shop soon. General strike tomorrow and no idea when it will end or who is involved nor when fuel supplies will return to normal - all pumps empty round here and at La Roche - so need to get fresh perishables in while we can given that our potager is frozen.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Poor Hannah, hope she gets better Lizzie, can you get close enough to smell her breath, you can’t mistake a burst abscess but then you already know that with your experience.
1€ insulation sounds good, a few years ago when parents were still alive we had yet another lot of loft insulation making about 18” deep and the walls done free.
MRI scans can be daunting, I’m not keen on being in that tunnel, and you daren’t move, makes it worse. I haven’t had one for 20 years can’t see the point now, but maybe they’ve changed from then.

Have seen Jimi Blake and his garden on TV, very interesting.

Let us know about the talk @chicky. Sounds good.
Hope everyone's OK especially those poorly/undergoing tests/feeling SAD or sad.

I've just realised my road tax and MOT ran out on Nov 1st !!
Just as well I've not driven it since then.
