@Hostafan1 best of luck with the scan etc.  Hope hubby enjoys the trip out  B)

    Knees eh?! :s@Obelixx

'Interesting' parking here too @Fairygirl as our cul de sac leads to the primary school 'pedestrian entrance' LOL   Can't you wave a wand at your pooter?

I'm downstairs now and on the sofa and reeking of Olbas Oil ... OH is off to work today but finishes at 4 so will come home and put oven-bake fish & chips in the oven ... I'm glad I did that big shop on Tuesday instead of going to the dentist.

    Hi all.
Cold laying me low, unfortunately even minor illnesses seem to set me back quite a lot nowadays.
Never mind, nice and cosy in bed, music on, plenty of books and some chocolate. What more does a man need.
    Good luck today @Hostafan1
So sorry the news is not good @chicky

Olbas oil is good @Dovefromabove .  Can't get it here so just use eucalyptus oil.  I bught a diffuser thingy - bit like a pleated coffee filter that gets a few drops of oil and then sits upside down on its wooden stand so can be at the bedside or next to the sofa as needed.

I thought of you yesterday @punkdoc, because they played Reelin in the Years on the radio. Stay tucked up and cosy.
Sad about Bob Willis too, wasn't it? I particularly liked Viv Richards'  little tribute as it was a pic of him, getting bowled by Bob. He's a lovely man too. Part of my childhood, all of them. Richie Benaud's voice, the radio commentary et al. Happy days  :)

I have a Bara Brith in the oven so everyone is welcome to a bit later. Good for colds and lurgy prevention and cure.

I used to love the radio commentary. John Arlott was a particular favourite, he used to do the after dinner speeches at our university sports club dinners.

He had a great voice, didn't he? Sis loved R. Benaud's voice. I loved Brian Johnston, particularly when rain stopped play. Lovely memories - the soundtrack to my childhood.  :)

  • I loved the radio cricket commentary too ... as did Pa ... even OH loved it, and he doesn't know one end of a cricket pitch from another  :disappointed:

There are reasons why it's best to stay in bed when poorly @punkdoc ... I've discovered one of them ... we might think we're quite capable of doing something simple ... something easy that we do most days, like baking a loaf of bread, especially when the Kenwood does all the kneading ... after all, all you have to do is put the ingredients in the bowl, unleash the Kenwood for ten minutes then put the dough to prove in a tin and bake it eh?
But then you discover that because you're poorly and not doing things as well as you normally would, you tip a bag of flour onto the kitchen floor and there's no one in the house but you to clear it up  :o

I can't stay in bed when I'm not well. I'd have to be completely incapacitated. I'd rather be up and on the sofa. Is that weird?

Anyway, I'm happy 'cos old Ken's just played Greg Lake. They played that followed by River yesterday. Not really a Christmas song, but always makes me feel nostalgic and comforted.
It also means one less chance of hearing that hideous Robbie Williams effort. The album, currently R2's album of the week [why?]  is even worse - obligatory tuneless weans chiming in at the end etc. So bad, it makes me yearn for Mull of Kintyre.... :D

  • I'm the same @Fairygirl ... I have to be up and on the sofa unless doctor says 'No'.  That's been the case a couple of times in my adult life (tricky pregnancy and hideous mumps) .... and I hate being in bed if there's no one  else in the house.

I heard Greg Lake while I was clearing up the floury mess in the kitchen ... cheered me  up in an odd sort of way.

Ken is usually in the kitchen in this house so he can be heard in the studio too ... but as OH is at work and I'm back on the sofa he's been promoted to the dining end of the open plan living area ... do you think he'll notice the difference?

I think Ken will be delighted  :D
He was accompanying me on the treadmill while I waited for the BB to finish. I'm sure he'd be thrilled to know he's had some exercise  ;)
I think the only time I've been totally bedridden was when I had chicken pox - I was 41. Don't think I stayed there for too long though.
