Love and hugs to you @chicky, so hard when a parent is going down hill. Must be so scary for @Pat E, so glad her OH came back safely and is with her.
Morning all. Cold and sunny. Tidying up day here, especially the dining room. Must put the garden table back outside and re-arrange the room.
Having a quiet evening, I hope, no big meal planned.
Since we had the new oil boiler the valves in the radiators take it in turns to make ghostly wailing noises, not all the time, just sometimes. Plumber has been 3 times, purged the rads, and doesn't know what else to do. Noise doesn't happen when he's here.

Strength to you Chicky. They are hard days to live through. Perhaps Bristol will offer some hope that he can enjoy his life for a while longer yet.
The 2010s have been awful. As well as both my parents, two aunts, two uncles, four dogs, my OH's oldest friend, one of our newest friends here and, in the last few weeks, my uncle's wife and my aunt's husband - all died since the start of 2010. I'm hoping the next decade will be kinder. I'm running out of friends and relatives.
Deep breath - shoulders back. A new chapter begins......

Problem is though that the older you get the more friends and family die. Ten years ago it was very rare that any of my friends died. At least I won't lose a dog in 2020 as I don't have one any more. I used to have two at a time until Cassie died then just Tigger for a few years. We to and fro to much now for a dog.

Chicky, Chicklet should be ok in her suburb. Very far from fire danger, although the smoke might hang around for a bit longer. I’m sure she knows how to keep her lungs clear. 😉
Hubby has fallen asleep and it’s still an hour to go, so looks as though I might as wel close for the night too. (He’s more exhausted from yesterday’s fire fighting than he admits).
Late on parade. Been to do an SM raid for goodies and essentials. Have finally settled on Peking duck for dinner tonight. It is cold, grey and very misty out there but it has lifted considerably since we first got up.
I sincerely hope you get some rain and some respite @Pat E.
Difficult times @Chicky. Hugs for you and hope Chicklet has a safe journey and a couple of face masks.
@Raisingirl and all Forkers - yes indeed let this next decade be better for all of us. This last one has been hard work on many levels for many of us.
@Busy-Lizzie - our radiators whistle too. I've bled the system so I'm assuming it's to do with pressure as it stops when we adjust the offending radiator up or down a smidge. Engineer coming to fix the boiler's clock in 2 weeks' time so I'mm make sure OH asks as I shall be out at all day sewing and patch.
Just about to have some of Possum's pumpkin soup with my home-made bread. It went wonky this time so I shall post a pic later and ask @Dovefromabove's advice on the recipe thread.

I hope Pat and Husband are safe, it upsets me just to think of the destruction. Part of Kings Park in Perth went up a few years back. The Eucalypts regenerated and within a few years , you could hardly tell. People and Houses don't regenerate though. Since it keeps pissing it down here, couldn't we spare a few firefighters to go and help? Part of the foreign aid budget perhaps. Maybe some squaddies to help out our Commonwealth cousins. I know Australia is regarded as a rich country, but it seems they could do with some help, if only to give the heroes like Pats husband a day off.

Hope the situation in Oz calms down before Thursday for littlest Chicklet.

Busy in work today plus feeling under weather so it’s a curry and PJs for me tonight.
