Funeral sounds great @Dovefromabove. Pity about missing the wake. Sounds like you're having th etime of your life @Chicky. Hope you found some relief @Pat E.
I am busy with the mosaic and painting group exhibition this afternoon and Sunday and have dancing tomorrow as well as machine patch homeowrk to prepare for Monday's class (me teacher, Yikes!) so no gardening for me till Tuesday but I have bagged OH for the rest of the week to plant trees and shrubs so plenty of mud pie opportunities to come.
Hope your birds enjoyed their mealworms @Fairygirl. Ours get them in fat blocks which they love and they're getting thru 10 or 12 fat and seed balls a day too plus ground feed.

We attended a funeral yesterday as well @Dovefromabove, my uncle's up in Grimsby. Very grim journey in absolutely torrential rain both ways on the M1/M180. Wasn't half such a jolly do as yours sounded, although it was good to meet up with a lot of my cousins. We've just driven back from my sister's near Leicester where we stayed overnight and fortunately today's been mainly dry. The flooded River Avon near Tewkesbury which you can see from the M5 southbound was the nearest to the motorway that I've ever seen, right up to the embankment.
Just looking in to see how you're all getting on... glad you're surviving the floods, everyone. Here it's been cold with night frosts - unusual for western Ireland in November - but we've had some beautiful clear days like today, when I've been able to do a bit of gardening. Cutting the front grass with our 14"-cut electric rotary mower was a bit of a marathon job, as it was very long. Our grass in W.Yorks generated, at most, two grass boxes full. Current front lawn: 57 grass boxes... we need a bigger mower. And less lawn.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
@Liriodendron less lawn means more plants 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Keep us up to date with any changes you are planning .......you know how we love a before/after story 😀😀😀
@Obelixx I really am having a lovely time. So much me-time that I feel very spoilt. Don’t think I’ve ever had this luxury before. Went straight from Uni to work, and apart from two spells of maternity leave, and some part-time years when the chicklets were small, I have been working ever since. Grateful for that too ......but its nice to enjoy a bit of freedom 🤸🏼♀️🧘🏼♀️
Just what I was thinking, @Liriodendron, more plants, more flower beds, less grass.
Tree man and his mate came this morning. They've done a really good job, NDN"s Leylandii, which she calls "the hedge" are now a sensible height and have been trimmed and her cherry plum has been tastefully pruned. Our front garden is much lighter and the car port roof is clear of overhanging branches. NDN is a sweet elderly widow, don't think she's well off. She was quite amenable for us to have done what we wanted and offered to share the cost, but we said no. Price was very reasonable anyway.
Went to lunch in a pub then on to Morrison's. Friends are coming to lunch on Sunday so I had to buy some food.
Gosh, it gets dark so early now. Rained this afternoon again so I haven't planted my roses yet.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Torrential rain last night seems to have stopped now, so I am out to tackle a patch of nettles that has infiltrated my flower bed. Lots of nettle patches elsewhere in the garden that I am happy to let be for wildlife, but my flower beds are a NoNettleZone. Will be wearing my thickest gloves 🧤
Good morning all and hello to @Pat E if you’re about 😊 ☕️
I’ve been up and about this morning, bird feeders filled and new fat blocks put out. Yoghurt that ‘brewed’ last night has been set to strain for a couple of hours. I’ll use the whey to make bread tomorrow. Washing is chuntering in the machine, a big bowl of coleslaw had been made for supper and the downstairs floors have been swept. OH has gone to work and I’m considering a tiny pile of ironing ... 🤔 I think I’ll leave it until tomorrow when the Archers is on ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
