HELLO FORKERS 🍂 September 2019

  • Hello all.   :)

Having a breather under the cat - not a lot has been packed yet, but lots of junk has been removed and chucked or recycled.  The cat is suspicious.  Her new collapsible carrier has arrived, and I've left it for her to explore... but for the moment it is being studiously ignored.  :)  I like the cardboard box pics, @Obelixx !

On Monday I went to the doctor's with a lump on my neck.  My mum had thyroid cancer so the doctor fast-tracked me; yesterday afternoon I had an ultrasound scan at the hospital in Huddersfield which identified the lump as a benign nodule on my thyroid, needing no treatment.    :)

    I love the NHS.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Thank goodness for that, Liri!

It's been a warm sunny day.

Our new mattress arrived this afternoon, Bultex not springs. Hope I like it. Son and daughter have them and say they are super comfy and you can't feel your partner moving about.

Felt like being on holiday, lovely evening. We sat under the pergola and ate big prawns (special offer) fried in butter, garlic, herbs and lemon juice. OH had bought a better than usual Chardonnay. It's usually cheap plonk. I'd made a loaf of bread, so we had a thick slice. Fruit for pud.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Great news @Liriodendron 😊

ive had a lovely but busy day. Great to see Wonky even if it was only a flying visit.

Now it’s time for bed. Night night all ... sweet dreams 💤

@Pat E can’t thank you enough for your “minus 3 hours, then swap pm/am” trick ......its been in constant use these last few days.  Not quite sure why my (ancient) maths degree didn’t work that trick out for me before now ☺️ ..... but you live and learn 🤓

Suffice to say littlest Chicklet seems to be settling well 🤪

I’m glad it works for you Chicky. It’s especially handy when the times change to 10 and 11 hours difference. 😬😄. Its a relief for you that she is settling in. Sydney’s climate is friendlier than Adelaide’s and the beaches are great. I lived in Sydney for 6 years when I was a teenager.

We’ve got a Harvest Moon tonight. Who wants to bet that it’ll be cloudy and we won’t be able to see it. 😏

    Hi all

Was hoping to be back to normal today, but am still very swollen, so another lazy day.

Might be off to London for a few days next week. The DoH are doing a review of Intensive Care services in the UK and think I might have something to offer.
Hope the stings have cleared up now.  That review should be interesting ... good to be able to use all your experience in another way 😊 👍

Morning Dove. Lovely spring day here today. Hubby is cooking some Osso Bucco for tea. He must be feeling a bit more energetic. Gives me a break. 😃

    Good morning all.
@Liriodendron, I love the NHS too.
    @punkdoc, please don't overtax yourself.
@Pat E, I think we have an LP of Osso Bucco's greatest hits.  ;)
