I love a kestrel. Don't see so many of them round here, although there was one hovering at a distance last week.
Perhaps he/she had spotted something tasty scuttling around in the hedge @Hostafan1?
I've "followed" lots of birds between hedgerows and always wonder why they just do go up, but the kestrel was such a treat.

They can spot grub at such a distance. I always think that's fascinating  :)

Will you get a bit of gardening done today @punkdoc?
I have a few pieces of paving to lay, so today might be ideal.

    Good morning everyone. Hi Pat.

Lovely sunny start to the day here which started with finding an organ on the shower room floor.   Nice.   Minstrel is a good mouser.

I saw on the news last night that Cameron is feeling sorry for himsel cos his legacy will be as the man who broke the Conservatives, split the country and created political chaos for short term gain.   He's been having sleepless nights over it all.   Poor thing.

    Really!!

Hope you're back to normal @punkdoc after the wasp episode.   Thanks @Hostafan1.   Now I've looked them up I know the little falcons we see here are kestrels and merlins.   Love buzzards too @Fairygirl.  There's a nest not far from our garden and we get to see the youngsters learning to ride the thermals.   Herons and storks too but not on thermals.

  • I was wondering whether @Hostafan1 ‘s low-flying kestrel was a merlin @Obelixx  .... it sounds like merlin behaviour and he lives in prime merlin country ... we’ve seen them flying along hedgerows in narrow lanes around Devon

We’ve seen them here in rural Broadland too 😊
