I like the idea of a weather stone - I could put it at the end of the garden, so to see it I'd have to go outdoors - and then if I get wet on the way there and back, I know it's raining...Clever stone. Have a boneo.
Or I suppose I could get some kelp or keep one of those little red fish that curl up that you find in Christmas crackers. I could call it Michael (old weather forecaster joke - his mum's house used to be near my mother-in-law's)...and I could talk to it all day about the weather.....
Let the dog out and see if he comes back wet. You can also pat him to see if his fur is cold. If there's snowflakes on his fur,it's snowing. If he's panting, it's hot.🐕
Or a cat would do given our dogs are confined to barracks while farmer Luc levels our meadow. Cosmos came in needing a good rub down to get dry and then asked for cream!
It did stop so we've been out moving acer pots to their new, permanent home and I have cleaned up the hosta pots while I was on. Untold numbers of slugs hurled over the road to the hedgerow but slugs all squished under foot. Humph!

Our dogs just stay indoors. When we lived in Belgium theye were regularly soaked and filthy fater wet, muddy walks and would get a hosing down an dthen a good rub down and then a treat. 3 years here in the sunny Vendée and even the Labrador prefers not to get wet in the rain tho he'll happily jump into afull ditch or a deep puddle.
Personally, I think a hood is more manageable than a brolly and comes attached so doesn't need remembering either.
