Like being promoted because I was good at my job, which I loved, only to end up managing other people doing the old job I still wanted to do and instead doing a crap one I wasn’t as good at. The extra pittance in salary was negated by bumping up a tax bracket. I left and ran away to Spain instead, where I am living the dream. Giving motivational talks on living the dream to pay for the dream rather defeats the point of living the dream. Would help pay for that new water pump though.

I think a lot of people found themselves in that situation @Nollie.
I know someone who asked if they could just do their old job instead, for the reasons you give,  and it wasn't well received.  :/

It's that old adage isn.t it about people being promoted beyond their level of competence.  Fine when the person concerned recognises it and does something about it but not so good when they don't know they can't manage or just don't like the new level of responsibility.

Yes you are, even if it's currently zero rated for income tax.  Any government can always change that.

yeah, that's the one. I've told Waitrose I'll need some unpaid leave before April 5th. Not giving them a penny if I don't have to.

Getting back to flesh-coloured microphones.  Sorry if some people find this excessively PC, but they are only flesh-coloured on white people.

I'm sure they must come in different colours josusa, even in bright green for the stage show Wicked.

Always found it strange to see the mic on peoples foreheads when watching theatre productions on tv.
I too thought WART when I first spotted one. 😆
