The problem with freecycle is you see ads like 'large sobrero hat' and have to do a complicated risk analysis before deciding the divorce costs would probably outweigh the benefits of a free large sobrero hat.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

It's that old adage isn.t it about people being promoted beyond their level of competence.ย  Fine when the person concerned recognises it and does something about it but not so good when they don't know they can't manage or just don't like the new level of responsibility.
The Peter Principle is an observation that the tendency in most organizational hierarchies, such as that of a corporation, is for every employee to rise in the hierarchy through promotion until they reach a level of respective incompetence.

Those microphones used to be black.
Shouldn't that be 'of colour' in these PC days?

I went back from management to my old job. I used to try to think of something that I could spend the extra money on to make it worthwhile. There was nothing.
    I never regretted going back.

The local cat lady is finally moving out today and taking her many cats with her. I'm looking forward to the streets being free of cat crap again. Only grumpy because as a parting gift there's a half chewed lizard on the pavement outside her house. The weather is just warm enough for them to be active but sluggish enough for the cats to catch them easily. There's always other cats but hers have especially disgusting habits and I'll be glad to see them gone.

Mine are all different colours - I think you have a surfeit of 'ells' thereย  :D
I bet you're extremely glad to see the back of her @wild edges.
Hope you have a more considerate set of neighbours moving in.ย
Not really a curmudgeonly comment, but, when I was out for a walk earlier, I saw a man in his front garden tackling the removal of spent astilbe flower stalks with a petrol strimmer.ย ย
Nowt so queer as folkย  :D

It's funny but I try to avoid power tools in the garden because I like the quiet but some people just seem to love the sound of revving power tools.
