Not too bad at all @Dovefromabove The forecast rain hasnt yet arrived, so I'm off outside to play for a little while. I'm leaving with another joke. I was reading the Scottish news online and there's a link to all the Fringe one liners over the decade. I'm very fond of Rhod Gilbert and this is one from him:

@Dovefromabove your doing better than us then our last bill on a 12 year old Avensis was £780! better than the price of a new car but only just nothing really big just lots of little bits for the MOT & all adds up. ( No it isn't a main dealer service either).
Hello We're back from Manchester, had a really nice couple of days away. We never go anywhere - no family to visit and food allergies plus dogs makes staying in hotels and eating out rather stressful. But we found a really nice place to stay where we could cook for ourselves, which helped. Had a good walk round the city - not been there for 25 years and it is completely unrecognisable (largely by becoming better). Also met up with some friends for dinner in the pub and had a walk round a country park. A successful meeting rounded it off.
Spending the best part of ten hours in the car driving there and back provided the following insights: Whether current singers COULD sing like Karen Carpenter is doubtful, but certainly they DON'T. The current musical fashion is for nasal voices and depressive lyrics. We think possibly the entire country is now collectively depressed. It may be Sam Smith's fault: The northwest of England is far too crowded. Getting back to the empty roads in our corner of Devon was a relief. I am a fan of high speed rail in general but HS2 is officially a Waste of Money. The trains between London and Manchester already average more than twice the speed of trains between Bristol and Manchester. That money would be far better spent on improvements to the regional network. Not everyone in the country wants to go to London. They'll argue 'there's no demand' but I'm not at all surprised. Given the options currently available to get from Bristol to Manchester, anyone who can would drive. So of course there's no demand. Therefore massive amounts of money are being spent improving the roads in that part of the country instead. The entire large digger contingent of the whole country appears to be currently on the M6.

Glad you enjoyed Manchester @raisingirl. Love it but only for short visits as, like you, we have dogs so I tend to travel without OH at the mo and just short trips.
I often find myself listening to quite good songs on the radio and wondering how much better they'd be if sung by people who can actually sing and interpret a song rather than shout or grunt or whine their way thru.
Just about to plant penstemons among my roses. They'll no doubt be very happy to be released from confinement in pots and I shall take cutting as backup to increase my stock.

Well that was shortlived. Got changed, emptied out one pot of daffs, separated them, and laid them out through the newly planted perennials. Rain on. ****^#* Re potted some small ones in the shed, then waterproofs on and got them in. Hope the general road rubbish didn't spoil your trip. Apparently they're now considering cancelling HS2. As some wag once said - at what it was costing, they'd be cheaper just moving Birmingham nearer to London.... I've been giggling at all the old jokes @Dovefromabove. That one was from the year the Hedgehog joke won : Hegehogs - why can't they just share the hedge?

good evening all. A Lithuanian friend of our has recently died and it's actually cheaper to take the body back to Lithuania than it is to leave it in a "funeral parlour" here until the earliest date they can have him cremated. Total madness.
Strange @Hostafan1 ... it was quite some time before Ma could be cremated cos she died just before Easter and then there had to be an inquest ... didn’t cost any extra ... is someone exploiting the fact that she may not know how things are done here?
