Very heavy rain, not unusual for August though. No moon visible here for days, missed all of the meteor shower but did see a lot last year so must have been dry and clear then. Thinking of putting the heating on  for a little while, not very warm indoors, Hosta must be freezing. Rolandâs had to go into work, he doesnât do Fridays anymore but thereâs so much work he needs to clear some before his September break.  (When the weather will be lovely đ)Â

Thanks @Hostafan1 Always a bit mardy after hospital appointments. It is all numbers, showing how you are worse than the last time, and what the path of deterioration looks like. Don't talk about what I can still do, what I still enjoy. I will be fine in a couple of days.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Nothing wrong with a bit of a wallow @punkdoc as long as you don't stay there too long. Hugs.
Saw the moon last night and it was so bright I had to go and look out of a windo on te other side to see stars.  We missed the meteor showers too thanks to cloud cover and they're back today so another grey day for the hoildaymakers. I expect some will leave early to miss the crush on the motorways tomorrow.
Have to stay clean to do a weeraid on the pharmacy and local SM after lunch but then I'll definitely ask OH to help move the pots out.  The drought plan seems to have worked and everything is doing well apart from a prunus serrulata and a pear which are losing leaves and need a boost.
I hope all the "dreich" clears up for those with plans for the weekend.
@punkdoc ((hugs)) yep ... it reminds me of what parents of children with disabilities used to tell me ... all the time the many professionals and form fillers in their lives just want to know what their child canât do, not what they can ... itâs very depressing đ Â after being told that I used to finish my assessments with all the positives they could tell me about their child. They told me that made a huge difference. Â Itâs a bit different for you I know ... but perhaps there may be a way to find a silver lining or two?Â

I know it's not quite the same thing, but it's in the same vein. My sister has had an ongoing health issue [doing well now ] which meant she was struggling to get out and do what she wanted to do, especially in her garden. She had also got going at the gym and it was really paying off, and she couldn't do that either. She was really down about it, so I said to her on the phone one day, make a list, but make the things on it really simple and achievable. Instead of 'take out those three shrubs and weed that border and paint the fence etc' make it 'deadhead that one plant, put some canes in for support for one plant, weed that square foot of planting' . All things that take a few minutes, not an hour. Most importantly, she could tick a load of them off very easily. She told me later that she'd found that so helpful and it had boosted her mood enormously. Wee steps gradually become bigger.Â

Yours is a really good example fairy. Listing and emphasising any small achievements, is really mood boosting and will establish positive feedback loops, leading to further improvements. Dwelling on the negatives, will again build up, until you don't believe you can do anything. It is one of the key ways CBT works for depression.

It's always worked for me, doc. I went to the doctor when I became a single parent overnight, and I was in such a state I didn't know which way to turn. Anti depressants at that point, and only for a short while, but I didn't have any other help other than talking to friends and family, and I gradually got myself through it. I possibly didn't realise how much of a benefit those little steps were until I just did it and felt better. It seems a lifetime ago. I've had reason to do it again more recently and knew how to get myself back together. Ironically, my BIL has had need of CBT, but my sister has missed seeing that it would have helped her too. Often the way  It could be worse. There's a tree down at Letterfinlay. 150 mile detourÂ

It's a well known Scottish saying "Things are never so bad they couldn't get worse". I assume that's about Scottish weather
It's not a bad saying when you consider it. Applies to all sorts of scenarios  The sun's come out here too - and it's above 15 degrees, so all good!Â

Brrrrr! @Fairygirl.  26C here now - when the sun peeps thru - and feeling good. Just got back from the braderie at Luçon. It's an anuual event in many towns and allows shops to seel off spare stock at sale prices outside the official sales periods as well as having street vendors and entertainers. Not as good as last year and not as busy either so all I bought was a navy blue cotton cheesecloth sleeveless top for 5âŹ.
Popped into the other big supermarket and found the riso venere for Possum. Lovely fat black rice from Italy which Leclerc don't stock.  Home now to make savoury Parmesan biscuits to take to the Franco-British AGM this evening.  Haven't been before so no idea what to expect.
Small positive thoughts and steps are definitely the way forward.  Anyone would grind to a miserable halt if they only ever see the negative.
