Oh hostafan Space for a lodger? It reached 42.6 here in Paris today... in the shade, my outdoor thermometer is now fried as the « in sunshine » reading seems to have killed it!
i swear I’m going to go dance in the rain tomorrow if it really does arrive this time. I’ve not opened the shutters since I got home, have a horrible feeling loads of things are going to be crispy out on the terrace.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
Evening all. Had an office day today - it’s the coolest room in my department but was like a sauna this afternoon - I felt drained and my brain definitely wasn’t firing on full. My nurse colleagues were melting on the wards - they are made of tough stuff though. The poor patients however, must be so uncomfortable. I hope you are all well - particularly those battling the heat. Anyone watch Sky news? One word: glockenspiel!!! (Go on - have a listen to the reports outside Westminster).
Apparently it's a xylophone but maybe the BBC chap just doesn't know his A*** from his Elbow. I was really hoping the early rendition of Sugar Plum Fairy while they reported Boris' antics was deeply satirical.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

He has a large repertoire to be fair. I can’t believe nobody has ‘asked’ him to leave. Or why the news channels are still broadcasting right next to him.
It was 40° this afternoon and 29° in the sitting room.
OH is still in Norfolk. His X ray shows arthritis in his hip so he will be given an appointment for that, but I'm sure the present pain is a wrenching injury. He was fine before he took the long handled chainsaw up a ladder. He walked all day around Edinburgh last November with no problems.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
33 degrees here, much too hot, especially when you have a lousy cold. Secondborn and Gabriel have it too. Hubby reckons we all caught monkey flue at the zoo. Whatever it is I wish it could go away, it's hot enough without having a temperature. Luckily we have a portable aircon unit which will def go on tonight, that along with a dose of Night Nurse should knock me out. Been looking after Jonah and Gabriel today as Secondborn had to go into school (so much for six weeks holiday). Watered the garden tonight, hopefully tomorrow will be cooler and I can get some deadheading done.
Hope all those with bites and ailments manage a decent nights sleep.
The gods are being flippin noisy up there moving their furniture about ... amazing dramatic skies ... and I needn’t really have given the veg patch a soaking earlier ⛈ Hang onto your hats folks and man the lifeboats ... whoops! That made even me jump 😱 we’ve got the torches to hand just in case ....

Glad you’re ok today @WonkyWomble ... put that one down to experience 😉
Just had a light meal of roasted zucchini, nectarines and halloumi with a balsamic glaze ... and a bit of coleslaw and pita bread.
When it cools down out there OH is going to pick the goosegogs ... he’s volunteered as he’s been in a lovely cool air conditioned shop all day. 😊
