I was struck by Mr Hauer's death too and yes, I remember Daryl Hannah's role in Blade Runner.
We just had the two claps of thunder last night but we've had quiet, steady rain all morning with very little breeze and it's just started again and is heavier. Good, vertical rain.  We need a serious soak. 37C in the shade yesterday. 17C today. Quite a difference.
I asked OH what we were doing for our anniversary later this month. Go out for a meal? he said, with great originality. Go out for the day? I said I'd like to raid a builders' merchant and build my hen run.  Neither of us impressed by the other's idea then.
Well - if they can have rhythmic gymnastics and synchronised swimming, Obelixx...why not? They're introducing climbing too - not sure if it's for the upcoming Olympics or the next one in 2024. I think that's very valid - huge skill and fitness required. She [Daryl Hannah]was pretty much unknown then from what I remember. 'Big' was the real breakthrough for her. I still think that's a lovely film How about lunch and the hen run? A good compromise. Maybe not have chicken or omelettes for the lunch though...

At least the gymanstics and swimming require fitness and coordination and stamina.  Saw that about the climbing. It's that fake wall stuff isn't it but the same applies.
It's probably naughty but I'm just sat here watching the rain and the busy busy birds.
I don't think i'd choose chicken or eggs for a celebratory meal anyway FG but I will get my hen run and house.  I bought two wooden wine boxes form an SM in Belgium for 50 cents each. They'll make perfect nesting boxes........when I have built a shelf for them.

Wasn't she the one in 'Splash' rather than 'Big'? Or was she in both? I always liked Rutger Hauer in Ladyhawke but that's a much less trendy film than Blade RunnerÂ
Sure enough, BT can't find the fault.

âIt's still magic even if you know how it's done.âÂ
It was cloudy and 25° this morning but since midday we've had very heavy showers - hurray. Water butts are full and it's a pleasant 22°. Such a relief, the grass is beige.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Weâve just watched the playback of the Tour, Fairy, Â so made note of Geraintâs progress. Same for our Richie Porte. Amazing mountain views on those Alps. Canât imagine rising a bike up or down them.
Itâs bed time here. Hubby has collapsed on the bed and is snoring (which is unusual for him) so the chemo is knocking him this time. He didnât eat much for tea tonight either. đĄ. Iâll be so relieved when he gets back to normal eating and energy.Â
Night all. Hope your temps drop a bit for you all.
@raisingirl Haven't seen Big but yes, she was in Splash with a young Tom Hanks. I hope your problem has responded to being tickled, even if no problem found.
@Busy-Lizzie our grass has been beige for weeks, not helped by being scalped by OH who refuses to raise the blades. I think I'll work on turning the worst part into a wildflower meadow as the eryngium is growing again now and it's already full of little yellow flowers, apple mint, horizontal bindweed with pink flowers and mallow - all alpine proportions.
Yes - apologies, it was Splash, but the same comment applies - love that film too. Both are such good fun, and Mr Hanks in both of course, hence my confusion  What a pain re the BT saga, R'girl Glad you're both getting a bit of rain now, Obelixx and BL. From the sound of it, you could probably do with a week's worth. I'm still thinking of going to the climbing centre [Ice Factor] at Kinlochleven at some point for a session.Â

A bit more needed than that @Fairygirl. Our weather station said last night we'd had 0.8mm in the whole of this July. We've had 17.5 since bedtime.  Must ask OH what we had in June but not a lot. Â
He's out on errands with Possum at the mo looking for a pressure pump for the mower tyres. Maybe I should just puncture a couple to stop him scalping the grass if and when it grows again. He'll notice if I just raise the blades.

17.5mm is nothing, is it The wheelbarrow I had sitting out ready for a job, had about 2 inches in it after the rain this time last week. We had more Sunday into Monday. I'd struggle very badly anywhere which had such dry conditions.Â

Video game World Cup anyone? Next Olympic sport?
