Beautiful day here too @Hostafan1 .....hopefully traffic will not be too bad(Fridays are always pretty quiet), but I will be chained to a desk. Tomorrow, however, I will be out garden taming - lots of lupins, poppies and geraniums to cut back to make room for the next wave of primadonnas (my phlox, sanguisorbas and agastache 😀).
Bon voyage if you set off today @Obelixx. Any pics of your garden progress, it all sounds like its coming together nicely 👍🏻
We had a lovely day yesterday ... drove down to Southwold and stopped in the high street and bought lovely bread, Portuguese custard tarts and a wodge of gooseberry cake to take to Wonky’s later on.
Then we went down to the harbour and had a lovely light lunch and some of their very good alcohol free Adnams Ghost Ship bitter (OH had Suffolk Smokies ... cheesy smoked haddock... and I had pan fried herring milts with capers on wholemeal toast 😋 ) and a bowl of chips to share.
We met a very nice Welsh Springer called Lily and her human ... she was a ‘rescue’ and had a sad past but is living the life of Riley now 👍 🐕
Then we went up to the harbour mouth, and watched the fishing dayboats coming in on the high tide ... there was a strong wind from the south and it was very choppy around the hidden sand banks at the harbour mouth. Then we walked along the beach and found a sheltered spot in the dunes for a doze.
Then we strolled back to the car and had cornets of very good Cornish ice cream and drove down the coast to Aldeburgh ... we sat up on the sea wall by the yacht club and the Martello tower for a while and then bought freshly smoked kippers from a hut on the beach.
From there we went to Ipswich ... we had to take a roundabout route as the only main road out of Aldeburgh was blocked by an accident 😞
Eventually we arrived at @WonkyWomble’s beautiful garden ... I know it’s a cliche but she really has created an oasis of beauty and calm ... we sat there with a cuppa among waving verbena bon. honeysuckle jasmine and roses, watching froglets and toadlets in her pretty pool and the goldfinches and dunnocks and other small birds in the haven for wildlife that she has created in the very centre of Ipswich.
We gave her Lovely Hub his Aran jumper and exchanged cakes for a rescued tree peony and came home ... ate supper (egg salad sarnies and cold sausage and brown sauce sarnies) and collapsed on the sofa to catch up with the goings on at Wimbledon and then fall into bed.
I think you’ll agree it was a day well spent 😎
PS and I meant to say ... there’s Wonky's Garden, in one of the most densely populated areas of the town, with more traffic than you can shake a stick at, and she’s got Leaf Cutter Bees carving chunks out of her rose leaves ... a real haven ... love it 🥰

i feel as if I have been in the tardis. No idea where or how I have lost so much time. So so tired, but I feel I should be doing some sort of exercise but OH positively against it. We went up to the greenhouse to plant the last few tomatoes Sadly not a great success as turning from one side to the other had me floored. i am finding all this a bit tricky.i think a lot of folks think of sepsis as contagious I haven’t seen my elder sister once. However this is probably for the best. She is bossy beyond relief trying to think ahead to 28th when we go on holiday. Have been persuaded to take assisted travel, doesn't do much for the ego but I am just so glad I can still go It’s all beginning to hit me now and I had a lousy night last night with flash backs anyone any ideas how t get more energy! I hope the garden will forgive me
sorry to be a moany minny

@Lily Pilly - patience, time, rest and healthy food are what you need to recover from sepsis. It can literally be devastating so just take one day at a time and even, if it helps, one hour at a time. Big hugs.
Hugs to anyone else recovering from or dealing with serious illness, their own or their family.
Hazy sky today but it will burn off and turn warms. 34C yesterday which is good for me. Now leaving for Namur on Monday as Possum has a busy weekend lined up and the problematical flatmate isn't there. That means I can plant some more roses and bits and pieces. It also means I need to do a mini raid on an SM for unplanned catering.
@Dovefromabove sounds like you had a great day yesterday. Love days like that with quiet pottering about, watching the world go by.
TGIF for anyone at the coalface. Hope we all get a great weekend.

@Lily Pilly quality rest is the best aid to recovery ... that’s why we used to have convalescent homes ... don’t feel guilty or frustrated ... just allow your body to get on with the healing process , mental as well as physical ... you’ve had a horrid time ((hugs))

Be kind to yourself in any way you can, LP. I can understand how frustrated you are, and you're not a moaning minny, you're understandably hacked off and fed up at feeling unable to do the things you want to do. Look forward to your holiday, and enjoy it as much as possible. x Snoozing in the dunes, Dove. Tut tut Friday again - hope the workers are getting there. Only a few more hours....
Murky day again here, but slightly warmer than yesterday. The breeze is a bit lighter too. I think we were nearly 20 degrees lower than you Obelixx A real lou'ring sky last night, but no real rain. Some to come later. Watched some tennis yesterday too. That clown Kyrgios needs put over someone's knee. How rude in that interview he gave. Like a petulant child. Some great stuff by Nadal, and good to see Andy not limping or in pain. Birds are eating me out of house and home. They must have plenty of babies to look after which is great. Goldies, sparrows, dunnocks, blue, great and coal tits all stuffing their little faces.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Good afternoon all, lovely day here in SE England. Just back from a hot week in Spain - 42C in Cordoba, a cool 34C in Seville. Saw lots of paradise gardens and beautiful patios which provided relief from the heat. Lots of "wally closes" just like Glasgow
Back home, the grass is as high as an elephant's eye but the greenhouse has survived and the first cucumbers are ready for picking. Bird bath filled again and birds seem to have forgiven us for not filling their food containers for a week. Must get out there with the watering cans for various pots and troughs.
Afternoon all! Lovely here too - bit cooler than Spain, thankfully...
Good to see Hubby enjoying the open air, Pat. Just as long as he knows when to stop!
Hope the holiday gives you a boost, Lily P. Take it easy and post on here for support and sympathy - you deserve it!
That sounds like a lovely day, Dove.
I've finally given in and admitted defeat. This morning I removed the net from the strawberry bed... I've given up counting the number of holes I've had to "knit" up with string, since the squirrels decided they preferred strawberries to any other food they could find. When I went out to pick the soft fruit there was a squirrel inside the fruit cage, which left through the hole it had chewed in the net, carrying a nice fat strawberry in its mouth. It sat facing me on a fence post to eat it, wearing an insolent expression. So - since the net hasn't done its job, but is liable to trap little birds who come wandering in through squirrel holes, it's had to be removed. Ah well...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
