Very different from ours Lyn.Ā  They forecast 33c for 4pm here but it was 38C and hasn't cooled much now.Ā  Ā More tomorrow.Ā  Maybe some rain on Friday now but I'll believe it when I see it.

Possum and I will do the SM run tomorrow while OH plays golf.Ā  Ā At least the S will be cool.Ā  Then we can go to the market at Olonne on friday, with or without OH.Ā Ā

Thank you about my horse @Fairygirl

Daughter and family are staying and OH's stepdaughter and family, who are friends with my daughter now, are staying in a campsite with a river near hear. So I've spent the day with them all sitting in the shade, eating BBQ and salads for lunch and swimming in the river. Also looking after baby grandson, all chubby and smiley, while they went canoeing down the river. It has been very hot.

I’ve been sitting out in the dusky garden watching the frogs leaving the pond and heading for the (untidy) compost heap full of worms and slugs, and a hedgehog snuffling around in the Wilderness then scuttling across the grass, beneath the bench I was sitting on and then to rootle around in the island bed full of perennials and then to the veg patch ... while I was out there I was being feasted on by mozzies, then I came upstairs to find I’d forgotten to shut the evening sun out of our bedroom by reversing the blinds ... I foresee an itchy sticky night ... sweet dreams all šŸ›Œ šŸ‘ šŸ‘ šŸ‘Ā

Good morning allĀ  :) I was awake with you @Hostafan1 aroundĀ 4:30 to 5:30 ish and then went back to sleep ...Ā

    Now Im awake ā˜•ļøĀ

I know some folk say it’s very rare, Ā but if you’re having to be active in this heat and are perspiring a lot I believe it’s important to keep your salt levels up as well as drinking plenty of water ... I’ve known several people feel very odd at the end of a hot day and having been told to eat something salty ... a packet of crisps/salty peanuts or some marmite on toast ... they have recovered quickly.Ā

    Hi all
Going to be a scorcher here, already up to 27.
Just been round dead heading the Dahlias, which are just coming into their prime.

    Morning all/afties Pat if you're aroundĀ  :)
    Can't beat a chubby baby @Busy-Lizzie ;)
Dove that's a good point. I met a chap and his Dad on a hill a few years back, and they both suffer a bit from that. The son said he always made sure he had a few bags of crisps with him when walking and it works a treat, as he can cramp up quickly. You get sweaty no matter what temp it is, andĀ  you can't always top up water easily.Ā
I slept better last night. I can't regulate my temperature at all since menopause, so I get cold/hot very quickly.Ā

    Morning all.Ā Ā

Sounds a lovely day with your family, @Busy-Lizzie... very special to have a baby to cuddle.Ā  Glad your horses are sorted too.

Interesting about the need for salt when it's hot.Ā  Hubby gets a lot of calf cramps at night but doesn't like salty food...Ā

I can only listen to the news once a day.Ā  I know it's being an ostrich & burying my head in the sand, but there's only so much anxiety a body can bear.

Right.Ā  Time to snap out of it and prepare some more raspberries (rather wormy this year) for jam.Ā  The kitchen, on the side of the house built into the hillside, is the coolest room...Ā Ā  :)
