The lightening started here at 11pm, marvellous lightening flashes, loads of rain, filled the butts again so now I have two spare full ones that will be syphoned into the pond. went on till 2pm but the rain continued.

Absolutely Hosta, don’t we always, it hangs on the high ground. OH says your town used to be known for wet drizzly weather years ago, seems not so now! Its cold and grey here at the moment, may warm up a bit later but nice for working and I will now plant out some more, no point when it’s dry.
We should have a high of 18c here today, a hotter one tomorrow then cool and wet from then on, well it is the school holidays! always happens as long as I can remember, and that’s a long time now. 😀. I always feel sorry for people who have these August holidays, they wait all year for this holiday, then it’s usually naff weather. September will be better.

That’s the plan 👍 😎 🍹
Ive just been down the road and taken advantage of Wrose air con and done a quick shop ... Cos lettuce seem to be in great demand ... the shop was full of sensible ladies in loose cool linens also enjoying the air con and doing their shopping early.
Tennis has been cancelled today.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I’ve inspected the veg patch ... chased a young blackbird out of the blueberries, moved a garden bench into the shade, removed sideshoots from the tomatoes and reshaped the lollipop bay. The hostas were watered yesterday ... I’ll water them again when the sun has moved over to the other side of the house ... that is the full extent of today’s gardening for me.

Afternoon. Just catching-up... Exciting news @chicky! I had brunch outside and a little potter but time to retreat from the heat now. Luckily the house is cool and shady. Have a good day all.
Sowed some Nicotiana this year @Dove and the evening perfume has been gorgeous. Had tremendous storm here last night so everything got a good soaking. I've fed buxus today and cut back some geraniums, spirea and astrantias (they got a good feed too).
Having to sit by the fan indoors in between jobs as it's so hot. Luckily our old house is really cool inside when the weather is hot, except for afternoons in the conservatory. Hubby is outside baking in the sun, don't know how he does it.
Off to see mum in hospital later, finally found out they are keeping her in for a water infection. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon and she can go home.
