Lots to do at allotment but such rotten weather ie. the rain ☔️
However it looks like less rain next week

Noticed the Pak Choi has gone to seed

Yes the weeds are having a wonderful time.  I  have had lettuce,  raddish,  and beetroot all run to seed before their time.

@Allotment Boy , agree , never had so many weeds and some of them so large , at least  they are easy to pull up

Hello , been to allotment today , nice & sunny
Finished digging up a bed of first early potatoes 🥔
Cleaned a bed of horse tail and covered with membrane until required

    O/H harvested a “few” blackberries , carrots, French beans , mange-touts
And a rather good cabbage & courgettes

As ever a few other jobs , pleased that the plots next to me are taken and people are working on them and gave them some courgettes

    Full day at allotment yesterday
Weeded and covered 5 small beds with Horse manure as unlikely to be using them at the moment and this stops the weeds
Dug up a row of main crop potatoes 🥔, nice and clean but as I expected no bigger than first earlies
O/H harvested loads , pears , apples , blackberries, peas , carrots, courgettes, French beans and 1 plum
We cut some Jureslum artichokes down to 4 feet and pulled a load up , as we have far to many
    Rest day today

Spent a few hours on the plot yesterday and again today finished harvesting all of my potatoes reports of blight on the site and going into hospital in a couple of weeks so it had to be done, the biggest crop of potatoes that I have had in eleven years of allotmenting they will last into next year with any luck.

I went yesterday too,  we had been away for a week. Only ONE week this time it's all gone mad. Lots of picking processing and freezing to do now..

Cabbage hearting and green broccoli making heads.

@Allotment Boy , agree you go on holiday and it goes mad

Dug up last bed of potatoes on the 28th , lots of small potatoes 🥔  , the soil is so dry and tops had died weeks ago

Been to allotment today , O/H burning

I redug the potatoe bed , only found a few more but lots of horse tail roots , then covered with membrane until required

As ever lots of jobs done , a very sunny today

Still can’t believe we have strawberries flowering again !

Picked out door toms , some look like they have blight ? But not many , strange !

    Every year seems different !
  • My outdoor toms are finishing,  the plants giving up, but still picked plenty from them.
Emptied the second bag of Pentland Javelin Potatoes, 2kg from four seed ones. These were better than the first bag. The Raspberries are going strong, the french beans finished.
    Cut back the plum tree.
Tomorrow its veg soup making day, so Carrots to pull and cucumbers too ( plenty of them to pick)
