  • Well have had contact from the police finally. Although said he'll have to contact the council before he can really do anything.

At least something's happening anyway. I suppose they're more likely to get a move on if the police are involved too.

  • Made it to the Allotment today.  Couldn't do a lot but had to get out of the house.  Still clearing the old raspberries and weeds in readiness to make new beds.

I've been today to do some tidying. Pruned and tied in blackberry canes. Had a few cuttings from it where the ends of the canes had rooted so gave those to neighbours.

Dug up remaining potatoes - which we gave up on in the end and just left in the ground. Biggest disappointment of last year. Everything else was great and much better quality than store bought, but the potatoes were a huge amount of work to prepare, due to all the holes, and then just didn't taste of anything.

    Maris piper they were.

In the end we binned them and bought some from a shop for Christmas!

Was a lovely morning - apart from the few times the plot with my stolen polytunnel came into view.

  • Shame about your spuds @Mr. Vine Eye. Don't give up on them,  try some other cultivars,  especially ones you don't get in the shops.  My favourites first early are Foremost,  wonderful in my opinion.
Didn't get to plots yesterday and it's too wet today  ho hum.

    At least the weathers better
  • Latest news, had phone call with the police. Apparently the thief has proof of purchase. Obviously made a fake Facebook marketplace advert.

So it's my word against his now.

Hopefully the additional items that were taken might help prove it. Officer looking into it more, still hasn't had chance to speak to the person.

  • Oh gosh @Mr. Vine Eye , good luck.
Kindness is always the right choice.
  • Wow, @Mr. Vine Eye, and your exact same polytunnel just magically vanished.  Didn't your rose cutting turn up on the thieves plot too? Guess it must have blown over there.

I had a bad feeling when you said the police needed to speak to the council first, why would they? Grrr.

@Mr. Vine Eye Thats outrageous! Surely if you can get witnesses they can attest that it is literally the exact same polytunnel and pots etc that was on your plot, and no proof of ownership from whoever "sold" it.  Any seed labels etc in there? Bet they are all in your handwriting too...

@Mr. Vine Eye, That's going to make your claim more difficult. Did none of the other plot holders see him putting it up on his plot?   Do you have photos of it on your own plot?
If the police won't do anything, I would be inclined to sue him in the County Court.
