O/H went to allotment yesterday morning and picked loads of strawberries probably thats it for them , plus a tub of raspberries & spring onions Dug up garlic and hug it in shed to dry
Weather good tomorrow so both of us will go up for a few hours , plenty to do before watching the England 🏴 game
Long session at the plots yesterday. Spent first hour dealing with early blight on tomatoes and spuds. I have said before I do grow some resistant cultivars, but not all are, and of course resistant doesn't mean immune 😖 Then, finally got to putting the side and roof netting on the Raspberry cage, a long tedious job. The bindweed is coming back so I'll have to deal with that next, pulling it up only gives temporary respite.
Don't think we need to water outside for a while as it did rain like made on Monday, filled water butt well some plots were flooded a bit, lucky strimmed the plot the day before anyway paths both sides getting long though
Plot neighbour has blight on the tomatoes hope not to get it on mine
I’ve got a question.. I’m planning on digging up a new bed to grow some rainbow Swiss chard and perpetual spinach.. are these plants frost hardy and would I still be able to enjoy some harvests this year or even over the winter..?
Today's pick of beets and carrots. As you can see good sizes, only an odd one with a tiny hole near the stems on the carrots, but I don't mind that they are not for show.😁
Bit of strimming off plot path next to it today was getting a bit wild
@purplerallim those veg look amazing, would be nice to eat some home grown beetroot
My beetroot are just starting feel like most things I sow they are coming up then disappearing maybe slugs or snails, also something keeps trying to eat my peas as well so not growing very much even with netting on top
I think the only reason I have beets this year ( have failed in the past) is because I sowed in March, then covered the bed, with carrots in too, with my new cold frame, which stayed on with some lid lifting during our brief warmer spells, until May. There was two sowing under there, two weeks apart, it's about 3×3ft but it gave them a good start. I don't say all will be pullable but at least I have some.😁
@purplerallim , similar to what I do at allotment , carrots & beet planted in pallet collars with fleece over Went to allotment yesterday afternoon , still picking raspberry's , strimmed edges , dead headed roses and general weeding Cabbages looking really good , in-fact best ever !
