@GWRS if you think -1 is warming up then you must be a hardy northern type 🤣. I managed to order 18 bags of compost for delivery on Monday from B&Q so I'm sorted for the year.
I messed with the compost bin that's full of cardboard, it's all breaking down and will make good browns come mowing season.
Managed to put together the shuttering for the greenhouse base, it was all cut to before my mishap I won't be able to mix cement for good while yet. I'm hoping lockdown doesn't put delivery back again 6 months does seem so long for my little baby arriving
Planning a trip to Allotment but just to get celeriac & beetroot, might bring in the last butternut squash too before the frost gets it. I have an insulated cupboard in one shed but it still gets very cold there.
Been to allotment , shelves , hooks in new shed put up O/H dug up the rest of a bed of leeks , a couple of parsnips and chard still ok so some for dinner tonight Also burnt sedum & chrysanthemum pruning’s 1 degree when we got there but warmed up to 4 , when the sun came out Hoping to get up there Tuesday , weather permitting
Hello everybody , good day at allotment as weather was ok Laid slabs in front of new shed 3 barrow loads of bark chippings on paths & 2 barrow loads of horse manure on a leek bed Pruned roses 🌹
Went out as sunny but cold. Fed birds, and took off a few bits that had died back. Took out the odd weed from a veg bed that hadn't been covered and turned the top few inches. My goodness was the soil cold 🥶 could not feel my hands after 10 minutes so came in.
Lovely day here today, cold but sun was shining so we had a walk to the allotment.More manure collected for the compost heap and a bit of soil breaking to get me warm. Fed the birds and had a cuppa. Cheered us up no end
After what appeared to be only moderate rain overnight (albeit all night), I was greeted by a shocking sight at our allotment this morning. The small brook just beside it has burst it's banks, and a £40m Environment Agency project to prevent flooding further downstream has completely failed. Our plot is a lake!
I console myself that for now at least, our shed has not floated away. More rain predicted tomorrow and Saturday........sigh
