Seedlings looking good Gemma. Remember the propagator I knocked off the radiator, after potting up what could be saved, I've 10 aubergine plants, 3 tom and 3 chillies/peppers, still very small but all with true leaves, ever so pleased :)

Haven't been to plot for a few days but went today to water. Asparagus pea are beginning to germinate ,mini pop looking good, 50% germination for giant sunflowers but the little ones have only produced about 5 or 6 seedlings from about 60 seeds (2 packets) - this happens every year must be doing something wrong. Squash-turks turban have all germinated - 10 plants but only 5 courgette plants from 12 plus seeds. No cues yet.

I always think it's good to miss a few days, otherwise, I'm willing seedlings to grow big enough to plant out and end up giving to much TLC. Everything planted out is doing well after much needed rain apart from peas and broad beans which are taking a battering from pea/bean weevil.

Hello , good day at plot , transplanted lettuce 🥬 from g/h
I made a boot scraper from a broken spade , so pleased I put a picture on the Gardening page
Weeding and weed spraying horse tail at bottom of plot
Had to hoe up main crop potatoes 🥔
Plus a few other jobs , threatened to rain in afternoon so went home but it was fine

Nice day, sunny but breezy so not too hot. Harvey put in brown onion sets, I tried to work on the new strawberry bed, but far too wet to rotavate. So concentrated on final preparation of beds for courgette, beans, peas  and pumpkins. Got in a row each of carrots and radish, also first row of beetroot.

Strong Easterly today, helping to dry out the new strawberry bed. Didn't fancy outside work in strong wind, so hid in potting shed.

Did another batch of dwarf french beans and the first peas in old plastic guttering, there is room for them in the propagator now that courgette, marrow, pumpkins and first batch of beans are out for hardened off.

Was chuffed/relieved everything fitted into the propagator neatly, more luck than design.

You have worked hard @GWRS. I too have been thinking of putting in the french beans, you may have just inspired me to do it, and then cover for the expected frost.😁

Oooh no. Sorry to hear that @GWRS . I was a bit nervous this morning, didn't water last night 'just in case' but everything seemed OK here. We got close to it though. Tonight is supposed to be a lot milder here.

Mentioned on the done any gardening thread been working on new compost bins, will post a pic tomorrow if they turn out to be not too embarrassing.

Sorry to butt in.. but I’ve been following this thread for a while and find it very inspiring.. so much so that I thought I might sign up for an allotment.. only to discover to my slight horror that all the allotments in my area have got at least two years waiting list! How long did it take you guys to get your allotment? I just felt so disappointed that after convincing myself and gathering up the courage to make an enquiry I’m now faced with such a long wait.. :(

Hi Celcius Dont despair  the association I belong to usually has a list of about 20 but it has shot up at the moment due to the circumstances and people wanting to be outside and do something I suspect.  But it really is worth it when you get your turn growing things yourself and taking them back for friends and family to enjoy can’t be beaten
