Planted my remaining potatoes, Charlotte, they are in old compost bags, deep tubs, a council green waste bag and a recycled paving slab crate. It's a bit of an experiment to see if any work better, I will add more compost as they emerge. Last year I only used old compost bags and had a really good do with them, I ordered more seed then I meant (honest Mrs Wilderbeast it was a mistake) and I've needed to find alternative accommodation for them

My tomato and cucumber seeds have come up in six days.
Hubby mended the closhe ( broken during the high winds) , so now the ground is warming and I plan to plant carrots and beetroot next weekend. Will do a second sowing of both outside next month, it worked well last year for succession crops.

Looking forward to the weekend. Can only get to the plot at weekends  so plan to go on Saturday. I sowed lots of seeds a couple of weeks ago but last saturday they weren't showing so hoping to see lots of seedlings this week. Ive broad beans doing nicely at home and will start peas off this weekend 🙂

The weather looks to be set fair for this weekend and hoping that the ground has dried out from the soaking that it got yesterday, I intend to visit the plot on monday as I have peas Early Onward growing in sections of cut down guttering which are ready to go into the ground and are starting to twine around each other, I also have broad beans Aquadulce Claudia growing in cardboard tubes which need planting too. Potatoes which have chitted already will get planted next week too if the ground is dry enough it should have warmed as it has been covered for a few weeks now, yes everything is starting to move on at a pace now. I will also be making a garlic foliar spray to treat the emerging apple and pear leaves with, in the hope that it may protect them from insects, each year I am amazed at how quickly the new pristine tree leaves are torn and infected maybe a dose of garlic spray will help.

Yes I have seen organic sprays which contain garlic so thought I make some myself, the apple and pear trees look brilliant when the leaves emerge but seem to deteriorate within days from pest attack, I might even add some of last years chillies too.

Up early with lots to do. Pricked out cabbages, cavelo Nero kale and Pak choi. I did have some emerald ice kale in the same seed tray and not a single seed germinated, very annoying as you only get a small number of seeds. Multi sowed a tray of turnips. Also sowed 6 rows of parsnips and covered with cloches, the soil felt very warm to touch after being covered with Double glazed units for several weeks.

Sounds like a productive day Wilderbeast.
I got lots done yesterday, it was really warm in the sun. Seeds sown a couple of weeks ago have germinated. Lettuce, leeks and beetroot are doing well.
I can't sow peas and beans at the plot as  mice eat them so those are done at home.

6 hours at the plots yesterday,  and another 2 today.  Trying to catch up but the high winds and now sun means there is a dry cap/crust even on the areas already dug by hand. Tried using the society roatavator but it's like fighting a bucking bronco. Hope my hands and forearms recover soon 🥴
I have tried no dig beds before with limited success  but with limited success,  my have to try again.
