I think the lady on the houseboat would be perfect so long as the job spec is along the lines of ‘Presenter wanted. Ability to squeeze an excess of vacuous phrases into a five minute slot essential.’ That would be incredibly important.
was it only five minutes ................... it went on ... and on ... and on ... and on ... and on ... and on ... and on ... and on ... and on ... and on ... and on ... ☕ ... and on ... and on ... and on ... 🛌 🐑
As for the gooseberry chap ... I seem to remember the first time it was shown (last year/the year before) there were a load of posts saying that he was wonderful and how much we all loved British eccentricity/enthusiams ... but yes, we were sorry for his wife
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I liked the man with the collection of elders who was on sometime last year or the year before, but gooseberries, not so much, nor the sweet pea guy who was also repeated this week. Maybe I just don't "get" the whole growing for shows thing.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
I haven't watched this weeks yet (usually catch the Sunday morning + a dose of Beechgrove) so can't really comment on the content. What drives me mad though is that it seems to be 90% look what I've grown.
I know flowers are usually prettier than veg and there's all the taking cuttings, deadheading, wildlife carry on but just once I would like to see some veg from seed to table with handy hints along the way.
"The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it." Sir Terry Pratchett
I did enjoy the Caribbean garden, loved the colours and l couldn't remember seeing it before. The rose lady film was enjoyable for me thanks to the beautiful shots of the roses and the chocolate box cottage . There was a lot of fast forwarding though.
I wonder how long chocolate box cottage will remain in the lexicon. It must be 50 years since boxes of chocolates were decorated in this manner and I bet hardly any under 30s would ever use the phrase and many would not even understand it.
