  • Thought it was ok tonight, 2nd visit to the lady's banked garden was a bit much considering that there are 1000,s to choose from (mind it is a lovely garden). Wish they would go further back in series as lots of clips are from last year. Had a visit to wildside last year with a large group, we were all under whelmed by it cameras really do give a different view, maybe the hot summer had done for it but large areas were far far from finished. Like Adam and his garden but have a soft spot for Monty's more rampant wild and rambling garden, personally I'd love to get a peak in Carol Klein's garden seen pictures but would like more. Again I don't always feel that you get a true sense of any of the presenters gardens through the lens of a camera. I've tried coriander before and it's always failed miserably, I'll have a go like that so that's a goer for tomorrow.
You can see plenty of Carol's garden by watching the BBC series "Life in a Cottage Garden"/. Hopefully, you can find it online. If not, they tend to repeat it early Sunday mornings in the winter, along with Alys Fowler's one on growing your own and the frequently hauled out A-Z of TV Gardening with Carol Kirkwood.

As for Wildside, it is my favourite garden. What Keith Wiley has achieved in jaw-dropping and his plant knowledge is second to none. I am sorry you were disappointed. We visited 10 years ago when some areas were complete but there was much more work to do done. It was the most immersive garden experience I have ever had and it's rare beauty moved me to tears when I encountered Keith and his (late) wife Ros and started to say how much I enjoyed my visit. Joe Swift's video brought back many memories and I recognised the areas we had seen that are now mature. I would go back in a heartbeat.

@SydRoy that mound garden has seen many reincarnations since GW started coming from Monty's garden.  The wildflower idea is yet another go at doing something with it where all else has failed.  I don't see a place for VB or stipas in a persian inspired Paradise garden.  Misses the point and the purpose somehow.

We've seen the chap in Lincolnshire before and I do hope he's found someone to take it on and carry on.   The river boat bit was far too long and self-indulgent.  Can't get perlite here os the cuttings bit was no help tho I continue to search.

'Fraid I fell asleep for the rest of the prog but it's recorded and also repeated on Sunday mornings for anyone else who missed bits.  Always have to watch - gardeners live in hope after all.

When Monty said it was on at 9.30pm next week (because of the Proms) my OH and l both decided it was too late to start watching !
Oh for the days when l was out clubbing,  getting in at 4am then off to work at 8am....😥

I have tried to watch this three times but have never made it past the interminable houseboat segment yet.

Those Wyoming cannas Monty showed at the start are impressive. I might grow a ridiculous east-facing bed of those and 8ft sunflowers next year.

Finally got there. I thought the dotty pineapple lady was gorgeous. However, Monty's line about being able to garden anywhere isn't true. In my last flat, where we lived for about seven years, even house plants were not a goer- it was impossible to keep temperatures stable enough. And not everyone has a balcony or even windows that open.

Tonight's programme at the later time of 9.30pm (due to coverage of The Proms).

" From giant gooseberries and growing the perfect sweet pea to flamboyant dahlias and plants pollinated by a single human hair, this week Monty celebrates the plant passions of some of the extraordinary people that we have met over the last few years. And he has plenty of hints and tips of his own to keep gardeners busy over the bank holiday weekend. "

Thought it was going out after the watershed because Monty was going to get risque.

Interested in the sweet peas and dahlias segments, as I have been collecting seed to start both off this autumn/winter.😀

@sarinka , you can start the sweetpeas off in Autumn, but the dahlias need to wait until the Spring  :)

Sorry but that is the 3rd time Arthur and his chickens have made it onto the show in a year, surely they have a huge collection of films to choose from and be more diverse. Generally I didn't like tonight's show an entire run of old films. I'm feeling very let down after staying up late
