I can't buy sherry in France either. I will buy some next time we are in Norfolk when we come by car. In the meantime I use Malaga for sweet sherry recipes.

Hey everyone. Special mention to all those feeling down or sore.
I have ‘secateur hand’ this morning - feels a bit numb and my whole arm aches! That will be from cutting back an overgrown fuchsia and pulling up weeds at my Dad’s garden yesterday. I’ve got ‘homework’ to do today, but can’t quite get motivated yet...
    Sticky chicken sounds delicious 😋
    Have a good day all.

That's a good idea BL.  I've been using Madeira or Marsala or white wine depending on whether it needs to be sweet or dry.

AR - hope your hand recovers OK.

    Ah, thats it.
I was trying to work out what Malaga was, other than a place in Andalucia, now I can see, it is Madeira, a nice after dinner wine.
Still very cold here, but time pressures mean that planting out is occurring.
Looking forward to finding out who H is tonight.

No spoilers Punkdoc please, I haven’t watched any yet!
I feel I should plant out loads of stuff I suppose as it’s been out in pots it no different than planting in the ground.

Well thats the mulching finally finished, and the driveway can now be reclaimed for parking cars 🚗.

We had a frost this morning too - hoping its the last one this year, but you never know 😳

    Evening folks.
My hand is much improved! Yes, @islander, my well-wishing is always meant for anyone who reads them.
We skipped breakfast today and had a cooked lunch of a big ‘fry-up’, so it will just be a sandwich and ‘bits’ for tea. All two and four legged householders need to be fed, settled and quiet, ready for 9pm and Line Of Duty tonight. If anyone txts, calls, asks for anything or meows (specific one there) - they will be silenced/ignored/shown the door as I see fit.

Enjoy it then but no spoilers please as OH and I have yet to start it.  Possum refused over Easter and now we have the ILs who talk thru everything so we can't start till Thursday evening.

Yummity yum yum that recipe was even better than I remembered ... although I did use a few more almonds and dates as I’m sure there were more in the recipe I used to use. ... there’s enough left to have with flatbreads and salad tomorrow ... and stock for soup later on has been made from the carcass.

Now our feet are up and OH has nodded off already 😂

We are full of slow roast lamb with roast potatoes, broccoli and local asparagus, followed by chocolate cake and profiteroles with chocolate sauce and cream.

DIL and I went to the village shop this morning, 2 miles away. It was amazing. DIL said there must be wealthy people around here. I've never seen so much gin! Gin that went pink and pearly and gin that went sparkly when you shook it, gin in different fruit flavours, eg rhubarb, cranberry, blackberry, gin with funny names and in funny shaped bottles. There were loads of real ale beers with lovely names in bottles, some I knew , like Bishop's Finger, Speckled Hen and Ghost Ship. There were delicacies in the fridges that DIL said were gourmet food, a frozen food counter that had ready cooked meals like Boeuf Bourguignon and coq au vin that DIL said people buy to serve at dinner parties and pretend they cooked it themselves.

I'd gone there for loo rolls, chocolate and eggs. Had promised Katie (7) that she could help me make a chocolate cake this afternoon.

We went to a whisky distillery, which was interesting. The best bit was tasting all the whiskies afterwards. Think I was a little tiddly!
